[Pharo-project] Inspect it wrong shortcut

Hi! With latest pharo 304 in Linux the shortcut for inspect it (ctrl + i) doesn't work but alt + i. I have evaluated Preferences enable: #swapCOntrolAndAltKeys. Actually, all the other shortcuts (browse it, do it, explore it, and so on) works with ctrl + XXX but there is a problem with inspect it. Can someone confirm this ? Cheers, Mariano

Stef, Re Dolphin, class categories have long been of marginal use; I'll speak for myself on that but suspect others would agree. Packages are of course extremely useful. Method categories are also quite useful, and Dolphin allows multiple categories to be assigned to a given method. Dolphin mixes virtual categories (computed by rules) with static ones maintained by the user (and serialized as part of packages). I can easily see where OB would get quite a speed boost out of it. Hello all, I noted some problems with NetNameResolver, and found the following: http://n2.nabble.com/NetNameResolver-problem-on-Linux-Ubuntu-9.04-td2805740… However, there are problems on Windows too - in fact, I suspect the following would be a defect on any platform: #localHostName uses #primHostNameSize (ipv6 specific, right??) "unprotected." Looking at the other methods, it should check #useOldNetwork, though I am confused about how it should act based on the result. Any suggestions? I have also managed to create (aka steal from 3.9) a working #nameForAddress:timeout: method, which IIRC, was a disaster the last time I tried it on Pharo. I was running it on win2k3, and should try it on Ubuntu to see if that was the source of the trouble. Bill

[Pharo-project] Why does Pharo have both a System Browser and a Class Browser?

Hi folks, In the Tools ... menu there are entries for both a System Browser and a Class Browser. Both give you an OmniBrowser Package Browser. Is there a reason for this? Also, all the tools available from the World menu are available as well from the Tools menu. This just adds to confusion. Finally, there seems to be no way to push-pin submenus. Is that a conscious design decision, or just a random act of GUI violence? - on [migrating Squeak by Example to Pharo by Example]

Hi, ReadWriteStream inherits from WriteStream which hinerits from PositionableStream. When you create a ReadWriteStream with #on: you use the default definition in PositionableStream : PositionableStream class >> on: aCollection "Answer an instance of me, streaming over the elements of aCollection." ^self basicNew on: aCollection #on: is not overriden in the instance side of ReadWriteStream and therefore it's the definition of WriteStream that is called : WriteStream >> on: aCollection super on: aCollection. readLimit := 0. writeLimit := aCollection size. Put the readLimit at 0 make sense for a WriteStream ( with witch your not supposed to read ) but when you create a ReadWriteStream on a collection you would be able to read what is already in the collection, no? I wonder why #on: has not been overriden in the instance side of ReadWriteStream ? Maybe it's not a good idea to create a ReadWriteStream with a collection that already includes elements ?
