Trouble opening large files

Hello, I've run into some odd behavior and wanted to check whether I might be missing something: I have downloaded a copy of the english wikipedia as an xml file and am hoping to (sax) parse it. However, I can't even seem to get pharo to recognize that the file exists. If I open FileSystem disk root in the playground and naigate, attempting to enter the folder containing the (57G) xml file fails with "MessageNotUnderstood: False>>humanReadableSIByteSize." Likewise if I get a FileReference with FileSystem disk root / 'path' / 'to' / 'file' then self exists returns false and the parser fails. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be able to do this? I think I found a solution. But first the problem, which preferably would be fixed in the Pharo VM but I have no idea how to contribute there or if this is actually correct/wrong: After a lot of debugging and trying to figure out why paste from Google Chrome(ium) isn't working in Linux I found out that the default encoding isn't unicode. Hi everybody! This is my first post and I'm posting this question after going around this forum without finding answer for my question. I couldn't wrap my mind around it. Here is the issue (in fact it is not a issue, classes work fine). I want to uncompress a zip file and file in the content of one of the file included in zip file. For instance: The file 'tp1.zip' contains just one file inside it: 'test.st'. Once I uncompressed it, using code bellow: I found that file stream has a set of leading characters which cannot be interpreted by *CodeInterpreter*. Here you will fine these leading characters: /Hexa characters/ *ef bb bf * /Ascii characters/ *ef bb bf * Indeed, this leading characters are written by the fileOut process and it's ok (those are magic number which depend on the SO) but I don't know how to skip it for CodeInterpreter to be able fileIn this file. My first solution was skipping this characters through the use of /Stream>>next: 4/. But I'm looking for a much portable solution. Somebody went through this problem? Thanks for help in advance. Couple years after failing of the last, GSoC-powered effort to implement Excel/Calc support, I come to the point when I need it desperately. Therefore I started Tabular (ss3.gemstone.com/ss/Tabular.html) package. It's now very early stages, and exporting code is quite dirty - but it works as proof-of-concept, generating XLSX files with cells meging support - which is, anyway, more than we have in SCV. It was already used in production code, and already generating tax reports or something like this. Some of other members of RSUG looks interested in participating in this development, so we may expect significiant progress in nearest future.

Is there any view on the code basis where I see the complete class I wrote in order to use the source code in my papers without the need to collect pieces from the individual methods? best regards Erik

Reloading a shared c library after been modified?

hi all, i've made a simple shared c library for learning purposes that i call using nativeboost. Now the problem i'm facing it's that after i changed the library i have to close and open the image to get those changes, so the question is there a way to update the library loaded in the image without closing and opening the image? thanks. -- Bernardo E.C. Scratch in Flash or Phratch?

Hello, I must present Scratch to my pupils on Tuesday, and I want to show to them the French and Creole versions. But Scratch is not programmed in Squeak anymore. Rather, it is in Flash. Hence my question: Is there a French version of Phratch? And will there be a creole version before tuesday? The advantage of Pharo is that it doesn't need an installation and I can share it easily with the pupils. Alain
