2. bug with mouseUp not passing through for event handling with on:send:to: target... click all over the World and you will keep getting the dialog though you are not clicking the morph. #clickClient in MouseClickState holds the morph as the recipient morph for clicks.. rather than the modal dialog.. ( SimpleButtonMorph new extent: 80@60 ; label: 'test' ; on:#click send: #value to:[ UIManager default inform: 'test']; color: Color red) openInWorld.

5. SimpleButtonMorph>> updateVisualState: evt flashes the button with a color fill. For buttons that I have bitmap style, this is annoying.. ? I can override.. but better not have this for default buttons..?

3. Image Freeze: Anything that hits #fullBounds with a byteString instead of a Morph does not simply handle it... but freezes. This occurs with an external Table Morph Package that permits constructing a grid of morphs, but if you pass the 'string' instead of 'string' asMorph.. it takes it.. but when opening freezes similar to if we put a break point on Morph>>fullBounds/ processEvent:using: ... Alt . with an image that has Sound package loaded, causes a dialog for choosing a Sound Package that is all disabled and freezes the image

Hello All, I'm new to Pharo and SmallTalk. I am trying to follow "Pharo by Example", but my Pharo browser is not the same. I tried to follow the FAQ about how to fix that, but the drop down menu doesn't look the same either. Should I be using a different version of Pharo? I'm using 1.3. Thanks, Gerry

[Pharo-project] Smart bracketing annoyance

I am still coming to terms with the "smart" bracketing where pressing the open-round-bracket key also produces a close-round-bracket, but I'm working on adapting. One thing that is ultra-annoying and that could be smarter is where for instance, being new to Smalltalk, I have got my round and square brackets mixed up preceding an ifTrue:. So I highlight the open-round-bracket, press the open-square-bracket expecting it to be replaced (like every other system I've dealt with) and surprise* now I've got the original round-bracket surrounded by two new square-brackets. If it instead found the matching close-round-bracket and changed both round-brackets to square-brackets, that would be cool rather than frustrating. The same applies to trying to correct string quotes and comment quotes. I hope that sounds reasonable and it would nice if it could be changed. cheers, Ben *surprise - not good for people new to the software you are trying to impress

Eliot, I'm getting an external library not found error on Ubuntu lucid with the Cog vm from http://gforge.inria.fr/frs/download.php/29042/CogVM-Unix-13307.zip The library lives in /usr/lib and is known to ldconfig by the name that I have specified in #moduleName. What do I need to do? Bill

The timerEvent method spawns a thread which generates a predefined (or infinite) number of timer events with given interval (timerDelay which is hardcoded as 200ms). But when interpreter returned by interval timer (this is necessary to have Android runtime poll for events), it will be reentered immediately beause there is some unfinished business. If user input is received, additional timer threads will be spawned, for limited amount of events generated. I may set this timerDelay to much larger value. But then VM will be frozen until any user input arrives - even server mode flag won't help. Even cursors in text inputs will stop blinking. All I have is a primitive that reads from Android clipboard (maybe I need to add one that writes there), but it has not been integrated with the rest of the image (and such integration is not really part of the VM). But technically you should be able to run CogDroid on it given enough RAM is available (someone I remember tried it on a phone with 128M RAM and that was not sufficient) 256M should be OK. If you have wifi on the tablet you should be able to hook it up with a home wifi router - only you need to have NAT enabled since Android browser does not use HTTP proxy.
