Hi Mariano, I've made a FFI library on Squeaksource that works on Linux. http://www.squeaksource.com/Cryptography/PasswordHashingFFI-PaulDeBruicker.… You need to install the 32 bit versions of libcrypt and libxcrypt if you're using a 64 bit linux os. Using crypt can hash passwords using MD5, DES, SHA256, SHA512. Using libxcrypt can hash passwords using bcrypt. If its for a new installation use bcrypt or SHA512 to hash the passwords. bcrypt is better because its slower, and allegedly future proof. to get a hashed password use BCryptLinuxFFI bcrypt:'mypassword' to check it against a stored hash use: BCryptLinuxFFI check:'mypassword' against: storedHash

I've been investigating with text. I found things that do work like: ((Text withAll: 'foo') , (Text string: '*' attribute: (TextAnchor new anchoredMorph: EllipseMorph new)) , (Text withAll: 'bar')) asMorph openInWorld. ((Text withAll: 'foo') , (Text string: '*' attribute: (TextAnchor new anchoredMorph: ThemeIcons confirmIcon)) , (Text withAll: 'bar')) asMorph openInWorld. But doing: ((Text withAll: 'foo') , (Text string: 'some link' attribute: (TextURL new url:'http://philippeback.eu')) , (Text withAll: 'bar')) asMorph openInWorld. gives me a nice purple 'some link' bit but clicking on it fails with MessageNotUnderstood: TextURL>>actOnClick:for:in:editor: Damn! [Pharo-project] Render images - Porting from Cincom VW to Pharo

Hello! I'm porting code from Cincom Smalltalk to Pharo. It's a web application so I've got several WAComponent instances and one component which inherits from WAFileLibrary that renders images. In the original code ( the one that runned in VW) i had the following instance method in the component that inherits from WAFileLibrary: logoJpg ^ByteArray asPackagedString: '?=#?8@@PR$YIQ @A@ D@X@A @@C?8P))QW!)Y @@RT$*@@ @@@@G@AHA@0@......etc etc' But now when i run it in Pharo the debbugger doesn't recognize #asPackagedString: message. Hi, I added a new issue (that I think it could be see as an improvement, not an issue) that is related to debugging a test case written with SUnit. The problem is that when you restart a test in the debugger (either by pressing the restart button or compiling the method again) the changes made by the test to the objects initialized in the #setUp are not rollbacked. This change sends the messages #tearDown and #setUp to the test when restarting it, therefore letting the test in the same state as when it was run in the first place. Pharo MIDIPlugin

Hi pharoers, It seems that MidiPlugin is not loaded in Pharo2.0. The plugin is present in the repository, but when I try "Smalltalk loadModule: 'MIDIPlugin'" it raises an error. In "Smalltalk listLoadedModules" and "Smalltalk listBuiltinModules" there is no MIDIPlugin. Could someone give me some help to solve this ? Jannik

[Pharo-project] Pharo VM - More Memory on Mac

Hi all, I know there is already a related question about the Pharo VM on Windows. But as it seems, it is kind of hard to get over 512MB there, so I'm trying to do stuff on Mac. When using Cog I was able to use Cog.app --args -memory 2000m to allow Cog to run with 2GB of memory. Which then works fine with the same data I want to work with in Pharo. But I would like to use Pharo 2.0 and the Pharo VM, instead of Pharo 1.4 and the Cog VM. How would I achieve giving the Pharo VM more memory on Mac? If I am not mistaken, I currently only have 1GB, which is not enough, my image crashed when dealing with large data. Also, is there a way to check how much memory the VM has available in the workspace? I tried some arguments, but could only find out if they had any effect by getting to a crash after letting it do some work. Cheers, Dennis

I have a question since i'm trying to create some jenkins job for the first time. Sorry if this was already discussed... I have a dependency with for example NativeBoost. And i want NativeBoost in its bleedingEdge version. If I "loadBleedingEdge" NativeBoost is on its last version on every package but not its own dependencies as for example AsmJit. Is this the right behavior? How can i express to have not only my dependency but also the dependencies of my dependencies in its bleedingEdge version?

OpenGL: NBMacGlAPI missing?

Hi! I have installed NBOpenGL from http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~PharoExtras/NBOpenGL I have loaded Version 2.0 using the configuration The method NBMacGlAPI>>glApiCall: fnSpec index: fnIndex attributes: attributes context: contextToRetry refers to the class NBCallFailureHandler, which is not existing Apparently NBSTIvarLoader is also missing... I guess ConfigurationOfNBOpenGL is not loading everything... It would be nice to fix this.
