I just discovered this new "bit of magic" from the Newbies list. My first impression playing with it is that MethodFinder>>methodFor: should be somehow more prominent in Tools>Finder and also in PharoByExample book. It is showing the class side methods in bold. Is that intentional? Can we change it to something else? Blue, maybe -- but not bold! Is hard to read... - Francisco

hi, i built ssl plugin i didn't tested but at least it find it and loads and i were able to run 1st primitive: primitiveSSLCreate "Primitive. Creates and returns a new SSL handle in the VM plugin" <primitive: 'primitiveCreate' module: 'SqueakSSL'> ^ self primitiveFailed i updated the configuration & added missing source files in this commit: https://gitorious.org/cogvm/blessed/commit/59ef1cb1c70a93ed3c974b5d6beea0e4… to build SSL plugin you must have ssl, and ssl-dev libs installed: sudo apt-get install openssl sudo apt-get install libssl-dev You can download prebuilt plugin from here: http://code.google.com/p/cog/downloads/detail?name=libSqueakSSL.so.gz&can=2… (it is with debug info, since i used debug config to build it) To build it, you shoud use >= CMakeVMMaker-IgorStasenko.157 and CogUnixConfig new addExternalPlugins: #( ... yours ... Hi guys May I ask you why you talk about CUIS and Spoon/Pharo? If you want to work with these systems we do not have any problems. We are working on Pharo since 2008. We deliver regularly, we are concerned with making sure that you can do business with Pharo. And we will continue. WE want to invent and build OUR future. We are spending a lot of time on making the system better. - Fuel - Athens - OPAL - Ghost - Nautilus - Ring - NativeBoost - Zinc - HUGE amount of fixes - Working on a core - Writing a lot of documentation (yes guys) to name a few. We are pushing like hell and getting there. We spent time building our vision and step by step building it. We are getting there. :) Now I do not see the points related to spoon and cuis. I do not understand what is the point. If people wants to collaborate with us this is ok now we do not count on that for our future. You do not have to reply. Just think about what you want to build and your future. Everybody make choices and is free. Stef

How would I hook into the system, let's say during the execution of one particular method (and whatever methods it calls recursively), and substitute one Class for another, without effecting the rest of the system? For example: myMethod "Until I return, use MyOtherClass instead of MyClass, but only in this thread" MyClass doSomething. ThirdClass doSomethingElse. ThirdClass>>doSomethingElse "This use of MyClass will also be replaced with MyOtherClass" MyClass doAnotherThing. Thanks. [Pharo-project] Just a thought... debugging announcements

Just another passing thought to share before it passes me by... I understand the decoupling from Announcements is good, but I find it a little awkward to debug across them, since when an announcement is fired off the debugger doesn't follow it. I'm not sure I fully understand them, but I am assuming that the announcements are stored in some data structure which a system loop processes later on to deliver the event. I am wondering if when the Announcement is announced, it can check if this has occurred while in a debugger - and then tag the Announcement such that when processed by the system loop, a new debugger is then opened - perhaps as a new tab in the debugger window it came from. hope that makes sense, not sure whether its a good idea - just musing. cheers -ben
