Hi Igor, following your example on using CairoLibraryLoader, i did the same for the PangoCairo library part of Athens. But there's something i don't understand, why [1] works and [2] doesn't (it returns 0), if both are in the plugins folder of the vm. 1.NativeBoost forCurrentPlatform loadModule: 'libcairo.2.dylib' 2.NativeBoost forCurrentPlatform loadModule: 'libpango-1.0.0.dylib' Does it depend on something else besides being in that path? #loadModule: by default looks at the Plugins folder? I've also tried passing as an argument the full path. I've attached the dylib, compiled with Macports universal binaries option. I'm using MacOS. Thanks, Fernando

Hi, Just a question regarding this example I would like to teach (PBE p. 298). The code: | class | class := Collection. SystemNavigation default browseMessageList: (class withAllSubclasses gather: [:each | each methodDict associations select: [:assoc | assoc value sendsToSuper] thenCollect: [:assoc | MethodReference class: each selector: assoc key]]) name: 'Supersends of ' , class name , ' and its subclasses' does not work in current Pharo. I did the following, after browsing the system a little bit. First I changed 'MethodReference' for 'RGMethodDefinition' and defined a new method 'Object class >> realClass ^self' (this is because the system complained that 'Array class' did not understand 'realClass') Now it works, but I do not really understand why. My questions are: a) Is there a canonical way of doing what was usually done with 'MethodReference'? (I do not think that substituting 'MethodReference' for 'RGMethodDefinition' is the right answer) b) What is the 'Ring'? (besides an evil organization from the show 'Chuck' :)) Thanks in advance, Bests, Jordi PS: I know I am being lazy, ok? [Pharo-project] Concept demonstration - Interactive Roassal for constructing models

Following on from recent pharo-project 'Roassal Survey' posts which asked for features for Roassal to be a universal diagram tool, I have cobbled together a concept demo. I was quite surprised and pleased that I was able to achieve this over the weekend - which I think is a testament to the potential power of the clean design that Alexandre has achieved for Roassal. Glamour also helped ease the way. Operation is quite basic - only interactively adding nodes and applying different layouts. Adding edges between nodes is still to go. Previously Roassal has been used only for scripting, so there are some bugs in the way I've forced it to operate, but I thought I'd release as early as possible to garner feedback and interest. Perhaps I get lucky and a Fuel expert finds this interesting. Help with moving the drawings to file and back would be appreciated. The attached package Glamour-Roassal-Interactive-BenComan.3 is based off Moose 4.7, tested against a fresh copy downloaded 2012-10-03 which contained: ConfigurationOfRoassal.AlexandreBergel.605 ConfigurationOfGlamour.TudorGirba.98 cheers -ben

Hi guys I was browsing (at least trying) to have a look at mist https://github.com/martinmcclure/mist/commit/b3103bd30be11dd8063aa9ce212a36… and this is so nice to see json code in the middle of Smalltalk methods. Look for class definitions there are great. Yes it will help newcomers to jump into Smalltalk. So great. We avoided the XML crap as in VW but apparently we will not avoid the shit of JSON. May be this is the clear indication that we should all stop to code in Smalltalk (a dead language anyway) and all switch to Javascript in a plain happiness. Have a look this is great to read class definitions and method categories like that. I love FileTree. I love JSON. What is terribly fun is that JSON could be good if we would not have a declarative syntax for exactly the same but new is always better. So long life to FileTree and JSON. Stef PS: Of course you can all piss on me, do it if this helps you. Now tell me that I do not have to use GitHub to browse code and all kind of nice argumentsâ¦ while at the same time, people are telling me the inverse. Yes I can stick with my old crappy browser and we will explain to our students that we were not able to use the syntax of our language to express nicely the same. PSPS: so do not ask me any help and support for such idea.

Hi, I have a question. The following works as expected and loads the latest versions of the code: ConfigurationOfZincHTTPComponents project bleedingEdge load. The following does not and keeps loading only the #stable one and not the latest one. ConfigurationOfZTimestamp project bleedingEdge load. I can't see any difference, but I am a Metacello newbie. [Pharo-project] Bad behaviour at startup

Hello. I found very bad behaviour. I use Pharo1.4. And when there is some errors at startup Image just closed. It is horrible I have image with seaside application which open socket at startup. So when I move to another computer where this port is busy (or closed by firewall) Pharo opened and immediately closed. No chance to debug and fix it. What you think about it? Is it fixed already at pharo 2.0? Best regards Denis
