Hello I search way for playing swf files in morphic. Can you advise some approaches for implementing this stuff? I found flash package in squeaksource. But It support only swf format version 3. Its realy up to day. I cant read required flash files. And I dont know how I can improve current implementation for recent swf format. Maybe I wrong but I hear swf format have no open specification. I found gstreamer flash plugin. And there is gstreamer binding in squeaksource. Is somebody try playing flash by gstreamer? And is this will be different then playing video? Best regards, Denis

Hi, I would like to see a lean diagram tool included into Pharo-dev in the future. The diagram part should be generic but by default it may include UML visualization (we once had this in the extended OB in the old Pharo-devs). A good UML editor would really be helpfull. I've seen "smallUML","Mondrian" and others but mostly they visualize existing code instead of "interactively create" new stuff. I would like to see a tool similar to "eUML2" in Java which is able to synchronize code and diagrams automatically. (see http://www.soyatec.com/euml2/screenshots) I think of the following scenario: - you open Pharo and select diagram editor from the world menu - you select/create a package, for instance "MyApp" - this leads to the following packages: "MyApp-Core" -> code "MyApp-Tests" -> SUnit test code "MyApp-Help" -> help descriptions "MyApp-Diagram" -> here the diagram contents stored in classes - you click on "new class" and place a UML class in the diagram area. You name your class in the graphic for instance "Person" - you add a property "firstName" -> an IVar "firstName" is created - it allows you to easily create accessors (if you click "read only" only a getter is created) - you create another class "Account" and create a relationship "owner" by drawing an association line, the code is created - if you "manually" add an ivar to a class it will popup in the diagram too - ... With a few clicks you are able to find a nice design and you can use the diagrams to discuss with others. Maybe this could lead to a Graphical Editing Framework similar to Eclipse GEF http://www.eclipse.org/gef/ allowing you to provide own shapes and connections by adding custom shape/connection libraries. Attached is a first shot on the graphic part. File into a 1.2 image and select "Tools"->"DiagramEditor". Thanks for your help so far. Now that I've had a chance to get my feet wet, start an eval of VW, watch Peter Fisk's progress, etc. I've hit a scary point. To go the distance, my app needs the maturity and capacity of Squeak/Pharo/VW(?). And, near- and long-term, it needs an elegant, cogent, captivating, intelligent, engaging, interactive front end. I've considered doing it in Flash or Silverlight or AIR (fat client) or straight JavaScript - though splitting the tiers and forgetting the backend seems like a lot of deferred pain. I know I have to worry about deployment. I am. I'd rather do it through the browser. And, even though DabbleDB and others are some of the coolest apps ever, I don't see Seaside cutting the front-end mustard (at least the way I understand things at this point). I sure wish there was a lightening-fast, browser-based, morphic-3-supporting VM so I could run ST on both tiers. A sexy, Smalltalk Lively-Kernel. I'm still trying to get Clamato to work. So, in your professional, experienced opinions, can I get a front end on Pharo (either in-image via Rome/Athens or some cooler-than-I've-seen, through-the-browser front end)? With all due respect to the Founding Fathers, I can't do eToys. Should I just do the whole client tier in in JS for the prototype and then hook to Seaside later? Any thoughts would be deeply appreciated.
