Know the inspiration for Tron? None other than Smalltalk inventor Alan Kay. His wife, Bonnie MacBird <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_MacBird>, is a co-creator of Tron and says Alan provided the underpinnings of the story. So, when you go see Tron Refactored, remember it's just Smalltalk on the big screen. I thought it was cool anyway.

It's a pity it is on startup, because otherwise there may be other things you can do. For example, you may be able to start a CPUWatcher and see if there is a process that takes a lot of CPU (if it is a recursion it may probably take not only a lot of memory but also cpu). [Pharo-project] Confused making my first Pharo contribution

I am confused. I have some changes to MailMessage (a Pharo class) and WAEmailMessage (a Seaside class) and an extension to MailMessage (the method MailMessage>>seasideEmailMessage:from:to:subject:) that I would like to contribute. These changes allow multi-part MIME messages to be created and sent from a Seaside web applicationfo -- r example messages with an HTML part and a plain text part. Following the instructions at http://code.google.com/p/pharo/wiki/HowToContribute, I am installing my changes into Pharo 1.2 in preparation for creating a Monticello package for PharoInbox. Here are my problems: 1. One of the steps is "File in your changes and test." I have test classes derived from Sunit. Pharo 1.2 core doesn't seem to include Sunit. Should I test manually and not include the Sunit tests in the package I submit? 2. I assume the MailMessage extension described above belongs in a Seaside update. Is this true? 3. The Seaside changes cannot load without first loading the Pharo changes since the multi-part message is created using Pharo's MailMessage . How is this kind of dependency handled? Should I wait for a Seaside distribution on a version of Pharo that includes my changes before submitting the Seaside package? It seems like this could take a long time. 4. Should I make this a Seaside-only package and extend Pharo's MailMessage in that package? Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers, TF

Dear Santa, if it's not too late, please add the generator code that Andreas Raas added to Squeak to Pharo as well. Generators are used in some of the packages that I have written for Squeak but they don't port to Pharo without the generator code. Oh please Santa, it's under 150 lines of code and it is so so useful! Merry Xmas to all, Squeaker and Pharoer alike. Ralph Boland

I was looking at Release>>testUndeclared that is failing in 1.2 dev. And of course it is failing because there are some methods pointing to some undeclared variables/globals/classes :). I found some references to CustomMenu and I'm not sure how to replace them :).

Hi guys Ideally I would love to be able to use accessors as the abstraction layer that they can bring us: I mean the fact that we could avoid to have offset based bytecode means that we could reuse a lot more the methods (in special case - mixins and others). Now I have a question does the JIT or the shortcut (not sure if this is in stackVM) blurry the cost of accessors vs. direct accesses? Does anybody run a benchmarck about self x vs x in Cog recently on a real app? Stef
