Hi, since there has been talk about Tabular/DOCX, is there any project aimed at actually editing tables/spreadsheets inside Pharo? There's Spreadsheet by Torsten, but that seems to be an abandoned proof-of-concept. Peter

Hi, I'm using TreeModel>>beCheckList and I wanted to know if it is possible to dissociate the checkbox and label. More precisely, what I want is changing state by clicking on the checkbox only Is it possible ? Cheers, Thomas

UUIDs

Searching the archives, I found an interesting comment [1]: "I think the UUIDGenerator in the image produces UUIDs which are good enough for MC. " - Levente Uzonyi I am pretty well confused by UUIDs in general (they seem magical) and Pharo's implementation. The use case I have in mind is a file library which imports files into a single folder, but changes their names to something guaranteed to be unique so that they don't overwrite each other. Would UUIDs work in that case? Would the image ones be "good enough"? Are primitive-generated UUIDs guaranteed to always be unique if, say, I move the image to another OS and continue generating them with another VM? Thanks! Help regarding Scroll Pane usage

Hi I have built an accordion widget using *ExampleBuilderMorph* and *ExpanderMorph*. I would like to add the expanders to a scroll pane in the dialog. I tried using *#newScrollPaneFor:* but in vain. gettings real senders

So there's method CompiledMethod>>senders, but the problem is that it just looks for the message symbol and not class. so for example: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (WriteStream>>on:) senders ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ will also include Object>>asBrick Object>>asBrick ^ GLMMorphBrick on: self asMorph because it sends #on: even though it's on completely different object. Now I understand that this is a dynamic system, so I will never have all senders, but this should be resolvable even through static analysis? So now my question is: Is there an easy way to retrieve the object to which the selector is sent? I can use "CompiledMethod>>messages", but that just returns "a Set(#asMorph #on:)" which is useless here. So do I need to traverse the AST and find it there? Thanks, Peter

direct image code exchange

Hi again, I find my self more and more often showing others Pharo and very often it might be great to just push code changes from one image directly to another. Is there a in-image monticello server available that would mimic a repository server? I already thought about webannouncements as a solution to broadcast/push code within the network. Or a shared remote playground that keeps a websocket connection between images and would provide an easy way to copy&paste snippets... @Stephan: How did you solve your latency issues with your remote introductions? Couldn't one just extend gui announcements by web announcements to remote control other images? Sebastian

Debugging announcements

How are Announcements currently debugged? I vaguely remember I was once able to use AnnouncementSpy [1], but that seems not in Pharo5 anymore. Anyway, I'd rather avoid having to hunt within existing for a particular announcer to observe. What I'd really like is something like... System Windows not closing on using #close

Hi I am using *SystemWindow* to open a Morph in my application *searchQuick*. ( https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new ) On clicking a button, a new screen opens up but the prev window fails to close, though I have tried using #close methods.
