Accepting Email Drops on Pharo Window

Does anyone have experience with accepting drops of file types which are not supported by default? On StackOverflow [1], it was shown how to do this in Cocoa: ``` [window registerForDraggedTypes:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:(NSString*)kPasteboardTypeFileURLPromise,nil]]; ``` but do I really need to modify the VM? It seems like, since Smalltalk is so malleable, and more like an OS than an app, we should accept all types and let the user decide whether to do something with them, no? troubles with JNIPort on Pharo 5 / Java 8

Hi, I am having trouble running JNIPort with Pharo 5 and Java 8 on Mac OS X 10.10.4. The code loads fine: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'JNIPort' project: 'JNIPort'; configuration; loadVersion: '3.0-alpha'. However, I do not know where to point "JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile:" to. In the original instructions for Java 1.6, the code looked like: JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile: '/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Libraries/libclient.dylib' With JDK 1.8 (and even 1.7), the file organization seems to be different and the libclient.dylib does not exist. I tried to point it to libjli.dylib, which looks similar, but that does not seem to work: JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile: '/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_45.jdk/Contents/MacOS/libjli.dylib'. Image cannot grow beyond 500Mb

I am trying to use Moose to do run graph algorithms on data with about 300,000 nodes. This data is map data downloaded from OpenStreetMap, and I am trying to analyze it with the Moose-Analysis-Graphs package. However, it seems completely unable to handle this, partially due to unoptimized algorithms, but mostly due to memory limits of the VM or image itself. I am using the vm and image of the moose one-click image for mac: http://www.moosetechnology.org/#install <http://www.moosetechnology.org/#install> . I believe this is a pharo vm and image, I donât know if pharo and squeak are still different these days, or if it matters. Been out of squeak for a few years This platform is seemingly unable to use more than about 500Mb of memory. I watch it in macâs activity monitor. Once it reaches about 450Mb as measured by activity monitor, it is spending nearly all itâs time in the garbage collector, (as measured by activity monitorâs Sample Process tool). The most Iâve seen it eventually reach is 556Mb, after about an hour, then it does a hard VM crash (Pharo has quit unexpectedly). Is there a way to remedy this? I tried running the image in 4 alternative VMâs: - The latest pharo mac vm from http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo/mac/ <http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo/mac/> . Same issue as above. likely the same vm - Cocoa Cog vm from http://squeakvm.org/mac/ <http://squeakvm.org/mac/> : crashed at startup. could not load image - Cocoa Stack vm from http://squeakvm.org/mac/ <http://squeakvm.org/mac/> : crashed at startup; could not load image - Carbon Stack vm from http://squeakvm.org/mac/ <http://squeakvm.org/mac/> : refused to start Is it possible to allocate more than 500Mb of memory to squeak?

MongoDB: console commands? query embedded indexed fields?

Hi, I have 2 questions concerning use of mongoDB classes: 1) how can I send mongo console commands directly from smalltalk 2) how to query on an embedded collection with an index Model: I have trips and each trip has an embedded collection of N receipts like this: { "tripName" : "trip 1", {"receipts" : [ {"receiptDescription" : "receipt 1" } {"receiptDescription" : "receipt 2" } {"receiptDescription" : "receipt 3" } ], } Index: For quick search, I created an index on the embeded[1] receipts with this command at the mongoDB console in a terminal (NOT in smalltalk) (mongo console starts with mongo in the MongoDB/bin dir): db.Trips.createIndex({"receipts.receiptDescription":1}) with a command like this in the mongoDB console db.Trips.find({"receipts.receiptDescription":"receipt 1"}) I get the resulting receipt. Before, I have to set the database with "use {databasename}" in thr mongodb console My questions: 1) how can I send mongo console commands directly from smalltalk, e.g. use database, set index etc. Is this possible? I did not succeed with the mongo command: method, it always returns "no such cmd". 2) how can I search for a receipt which is indexed as described from smalltalk? I did not succeed with the description [2] I am not sure if it is covered by it. Proper way to retrieve Monticello repositories

Hi, what is the proper way to retrieve Monticello repositories? I've always simply queried the system for instances... e.g. MCSmalltalkhubRepository allInstances detect: But is there some manager or something? (Akin to RPackageOrganizer default) Also it's interesting that both Pharo50 and Pharo50Inbox are MCHttpRepository instances and not MCSmalltalkhubRepository. Thanks, Peter

Hi I have made an accordion widget for my application *searchQuick* ( https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new ), an offline text search application using Expander Morphs I was trying to insert a multi-line content in it , but in vain. The new-line methods don't seem to have the desired effect. *I have tried the following ways:* *1. dialog newExpander: (result title asString, Character cr asString , result content asString ) * *2. dialog newExpander: (result title asString, '\' withCRs, result content asString)* *3. dialog newExpander: (result title asString, String crlf , result content asString ) * *[ result is the array item representing a document having the search string ]* Could anyone pls point out the error in my approach ? Hi Noury, Thanks for the link to the documentation. I have managed to get up and running now - very cool! One question. When I execute 1+1 on the Pharo (pink) playground, I see the code appearing in the web browser log, but it doesn't appear to execute. Is it supposed to, or at this stage is it just showing that it made it over to the web browser? Cheers Andy
