Hi everybody We really want to build a "vitrine" showroom of Pharo and we would you to participate. We want to build a web page with all these successes and show them to the world. :) We would like to get from you a three slides document: slide one: a sexy picture and a teaser / who you are. slide two: what is it how cool is it. slide three: what cool pharo techno you used or developed. If you have two successes then do two set of slides. So can you please send us these three slides. We would like to present them during the Pharo conf and after put them on the web. Stef and marcus.

value - a trap for young players

So, for fun I wrote a PlayingCard class with two instance variables, suit and value. calling collect: [:eachCard | eachCard value] on a collection of cards didn't work as I'd expected, but of course 'value' is the method on Object that returns self. working with athens balloon

Hi, I would like to get Athens for Balloon loaded by default in a Moose image. The idea would be to make it easy for people to migrate to this interface, to make the code ready for Cairo. In the process of testing it, I noticed that the text examples do not work with StrikeFont. Please note that we are using Pharo 1.4. I tried it by doing the followings: Gofer new squeaksource: 'Athens'; package: 'ConfigurationOfAthens'; load. ((Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfAthens) project version: #development) load: 'Athens-Morphic'. And then: AthensTextRenderTest test1. The problem seems to be caused by a missing method: StrikeFont>>getPreciseAscent @Igor: Is this a missing method, or is it something else? Would it be difficult to fix this? setting fonts programatically

Hi, I am trying to set the fonts for settings using TrueType fonts programatically. An example script is: StandardFonts setDefaultFonts: #( (balloonFont: 'Helvetica' 10) (buttonFont: 'Helvetica' 12) (codeFont: 'Helvetica' 12) (haloFont: 'Helvetica' 10) (listFont: 'Helvetica' 12) (menuFont: 'Helvetica' 12) (defaultFont: 'Helvetica' 12) (windowTitleFont: 'Helvetica' 16)) But, when I look in the Appearance system setting, I only see the DejaVu fonts. Also, when opening the font dialog, I can only select the DejaVu fonts. What am I doing wrong? Adding to rb-spelling.dat?

Hi All, Is there any way to add words to rb-spelling.dat, or otherwise have the spelling Code Critics rules ignore certain words? I'm getting a large number of false positives when I run the Code Critics, due mainly to the Category spelling rule - it flags as an error every single method in classes belonging to a category it believes to be misspelt, and it's making it hard to see the real issues when looking at the build results in my CI server. I don't really want to have to completely remove the spelling rules from my image though... Regards, Stuart

Fuel FLMethodChanged error

I'm trying to serialize and materialize some domain objects. If I run this: FLSerializer serialize: users toFileNamed: 'users.fuel'. The file users.fuel is created. If in the same workspace in the same Pharo 1.3 image on Cog 2550 / Linux 64 bit I subsequently run: FLMaterializer materialzeFromFileNamed: 'users.fuel' I get an FLMethodChanged error. If I just serialize and materialize strings, numbers, and DateAndTime objects to files everything works fine and all 248 Fuel tests pass no problem. The incoming method it has a problem with is an #initialize method. The serializeHash is 15407 and the result of 'method bytecodesHash' is 30998. What should I check to diagnose/fix this problem? Thanks

FuelPreview doesn't work if you follow the instructions on the Fuel website.

Hi - If you follow the docs here: http://rmod.lille.inria.fr/web/pier/software/Fuel/Version1.8/Documentation/… The example in the docs does not work. FLAnalyzer>>#showPreview gives a dnu. If you run the example in the class comments of FLGraphViewBuilder you get another dnu when ROElement>>#addShape: is sent. Should it work on Pharo 1.3? Thanks Paul
