[Pharo-project] Issue 1058 - Merge of BlockContext and BlockClosure
by Miguel Enrique Cobá Martinez Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=1058 Can this two classes be merged (the share 80% or more than methods and several are identical, maybe were copied) and then (assuming that the BlockClosure will be the enduring): Smalltalk at: #BlockContext put: BlockClosure This way several packages that extend BlockContext will work in the new closure vm, for example Magma. What are the pros/cons of this change? If feasible, will be marked as Milestone-1.0?

Re: [Pharo-project] Pharo-project] right button still doesn't work on Windows

Mariano, I have Pharo installed in a Windows XP SP3 machine and right button works (and wheel also which is the central button in my mouse). could you create a test case to ascertain the issue is epidemic and not result of specifics of your image?

[Pharo-project] ClassDescription>>classVersion
by Alexandre Bergel Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

Hola! This method looks really suspicious to me. 6 classes implements #classVersion. Either #classVersion returns 0 or 1. Having the knowledge about a class version is definitely important. But I have the strong feeling this should be implemented that way. The packaging system should provide the information. Any opinion? Taking profit this subject is somewhat a revisit of the "Making GUI'S" one, I would like to know if the implementer of the "Pharo Squeak Smalltalk UIBuilder tool sample (I)" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHbc1t83fEI participates of this list? The six minutes video is worth seeing by itself, but it doesn't give any further info on availability of the "framework" :-( Regards, -- Cesar Rabak

[Pharo-project] Wiki for Pharo future work [WAS] preparing 1.1
by Mariano Martinez Peck Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

Hi folks. I have integrated and merged all those links for future things for Pharo in this page: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/wiki/IdeasToImplement There are a lot of items I really don't know what they are and they have very little information. Sometimes only a single world. I don't know who wrote those things, but it would be wonderful people could take 5 minutes and try to give more information about the items: explanations, details, links, whatever. Because perhaps the one who wrote that understands it but the others don't. If you don't have edit permissons just ask or let me know and I write it. Finally, we should update the milestones page. However I don't have the knowledge neither the authority to do this. Please the board or someone update this. [Pharo-project] [ANN] Updating a Pharo image is now possible
by Damien Cassou Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

Hi, just wanted to say that updating a Pharo image seems to work ok now. I've removed the overrides in some packages. However, remember that the update mechanism only updates Core packages, not packages listed in http://code.google.com/p/pharo/wiki/Packages. This could be possible but has not been done yet. What do you think about that? -- Damien Cassou http://damiencassou.seasidehosting.st "Lambdas are relegated to relative obscurity until Java makes them popular by not having them." James Iry

[Pharo-project] Expected failures/errors on SUnit
by Hernan Wilkinson Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

There is a tool we are writing that needs to stop running the tests of a test suite if there is an error or a failure (as a performance improvement)To my surprise, using failuresCount and errorsCount made the tool run slower than faster and the reason is because of the expected failures and errors... asking for the failuresCount and the errorCounts goes through all the failures and error selecting only those that should not pass... anyway, it is a slow implementation. I'm not sure if this is the right list to ask this for, but does somebody know why is it implemented that way? could this be changed? who is the responsible for maintaining/changing SUnit? Thanks, Hernan.

[Pharo-project] PluggableTextMorph without smalltalk shortcuts
by Tudor Girba Aug. 11, 2009

Aug. 11, 2009

Hi, Is there a way to get a PluggableTextMorph without the default Smalltalk shortcuts? Until now I have something like: (PluggableTextMorph on: textModel text: #text accept: #accept:notifying: readSelection: #selection menu: #menu:shifted:) onKeyStrokeSend: #keystroke:from: to: textModel I can intercept a key like (Cmd+i), but I do not know how to disable the default behavior. Cheers, Doru -- www.tudorgirba.com "What we can governs what we wish."
