[Pharo-project] Metacello 1.0-beta.27.5 released
by Torsten Bergmann Nov. 11, 2010

Nov. 11, 2010

I still have the problem when I use the Pharo 1.2 image (see the issue for my steps) What has to be done that the fixed beta27.5 is used? I always thought the newest Metacello is loaded automatically if one bootstraps Metacello via a config... I also get it when I run the following in PharoCore 1.2 12235 (the latest from today): Gofer new url: 'http://seaside.gemstone.com/ss/metacello'; package: 'ConfigurationOfMetacello'; load (ConfigurationOfMetacello project version: '1.0-beta.27.5') load Are you sure its fixed? Updates: Status: Comment Comment #4 on issue 3216 by stephane.ducasse: [enh] Support for Metacello in Monticello http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=3216 I do not understand why this code changes the addSlice implementation? Why do you do that/ Slices have nothing to do with metacello. Why dirty packages are removed? why PseudoClass>>asClassDefinition is removed..... Sorry but it looks plain bad!!!!

[Pharo-project] VM Plugins that are important for performance?
by Stefan Marr Nov. 11, 2010

Nov. 11, 2010

Hi all: >From your experience, what are the important VM plugins to gain a snappy and responsive Pharo image. Stef mentioned the Font plugin, but will this improve the user experience or is it just nice to have to support different kinds of fonts? The reason for my question is the 'performance hit' I have to take with the RoarVM for the moment. So, if there are things typically done in plugins which now running in Smalltalk on the RoarVM, then I guess I could benefit by including those plugins.
