[Pharo-project] problem with find & replace in PharoCore 1.2
by Mariano Martinez Peck Dec. 3, 2010

Dec. 3, 2010

First, Alain, let me congratulate you because of this wonderful improvemnt. I found myself several times copying code to a text editor to do exactly that and then come back to pharo...anyway, awesome work. Now, I have a little bug. Suppose I search something, in this case, I serached the word "new" in testParagraphExtent Now...it shows all the "new" with a orange color. Perfect. But then I put cancel, I go to other methods, and it is still painting "new"!!! ;) I should do that when I change the method I guess, or when I press cancel. Last little thing is that it would be nice to have the find & replace like a popup, so that you can close it from the windows title in addition to "close" button. Thanks mariano

[Pharo-project] UIManager
by Benjamin Dec. 3, 2010

Dec. 3, 2010

Hello guys, I'm analyzing dependencies in Pharo (thank you Jannik ^^), and I found that UIManager have a lot of dependents and a lot of dependencies, with tons of cycles. I really would like to rebuild it, to break as mush dependencies as possible, maybe by rewriting some methods to make them using low-level tools. If you have some ideas or suggestions about the best way to do that, you're welcome ^^ Thank you, Ben

[Pharo-project] newbie smalltalk question
by Elliot Finley Dec. 3, 2010

Dec. 3, 2010

I have the following code: isValid (self value == nil and: [self required == false]) ifTrue: [^true]. self isCorrectType ifFalse: [self validationError: 'value doesn''t coerce to correct type'. ^false.] ^ self allConditionsValid. when I try to save this I get a ' Nothing more expected ->' right before '^ self allConditionsValid'. I'm guessing this is because I have the '^false' in the second line? How would I accomplish the same thing - correctly? Thanks, Elliot
