[Pharo-project] encouraging the ACM to provide some Mac pages templates
by Eliot Miranda April 1, 2011

April 1, 2011

Hi All, I've just seen Theo's call for papers for the Dynamic Languages Symposium in October and I'm going to write a paper on Cog. Alas I see that the ACM has yet to provide any templates other that for Word and LaTeX. I'm a fan of Apple's Pages word processor for Mac OS X, part of their iWork suite, as I'm sure many of you are. Anyway, I have this morning contacted the ACM's Electronic Publishing Manager, Gerald Murray, and he has asked me to send him an email asking for such a template. He can't make the decision on his own but has agreed to submit the request higher up the chain, and as we discussed it would help if I could add additional voices in support. So if you are interested in a Pages ACM paper template or you're interested in other researchers having access to the same please reply to this email, indicating whether you're an ACM member or not, and whether you've submitted a paper or three beforehand, and I'll add your name and email address to my submission. Also feel free to spread this request far and wide to other Mac-centric folk who would be interested. I'll send the email on Monday, April 4th. And just so you're sure, this is /not/ an April Fool. AdvThanksance. best Eliot

[Pharo-project] Issue 3933 in pharo: Better behavior for selection in PluggableListMorphOfMany and PluggableMorphListMorphOfMany

AS soon as I understand how highlighting is done, I will try to do like for MorphTreeMorph, ie habe another color for search Attachments: PluggableListMorphOfMany.BenjaminVanRyseghem.3.cs 1.4 KB PluggableMorphListMorphOfMany.BenjaminVanRyseghem.1.cs 1.5 KB

The Monticello package? 165 seems very old. We are in the 400erd now... why would it need such an old version of Monticello to merge? -> it could be in the "PharoTreatedInbox" on squeaksource. -> it could be that SqueakSource forgot this version because of a crash. What file are you looking for exactly? -- Marcus Denker -- http://www.marcusdenker.de INRIA Lille -- Nord Europe. Team RMoD.

[Pharo-project] PharoCasts with experts
by laurent laffont April 1, 2011

April 1, 2011

Hi, Actually I'm training remotely a developer on Pharo using Skype and TeamViewer. This guy records all sessions for its own purpose and I like the idea. For PharoCasts I would like to record 30mn to 1 hour sessions (as I know you don't have time) with an expert who shows us real code, explaining a framework / programming style / pattern while programming some examples (in the spirit of PharoCasts, and may be http://forum.world.st/Screencast-proposition-Watch-someone-read-code-td3244…) Right now I'm thinking about: - Mariano on DBXTalk - Gary on Polymorph - Igor on VM debugging or FFI / NativeBoost (for example interfacing with http://id3lib.sourceforge.net/ or other lib) - Lukas on Magritte or PetitParser - Dale on Metacello - Nicolas on Iliad - Janko on Aida/Web and all that I forgot ..... I'm sure plenty of people would like their open-source project to be more known. This may be an opportunity. How to do this: contact me if you wish to do that so we can choose an hour that match our respective calendars and agree on tools used (skype, google video chat, vnc, teamviewer, ....) - I will care about video stuff. Just talk and code :) Anyone ?
