With one "Core" and several distro packages like "pharo-dev", "seaside" we once switched to the model anyone is used to in other technology sectors: building a house or a machine by stacking up/assembling small pieces. So we had a "start with a base/core and load what you need" model similar to Linux kernel and distros. So you could pick up what you need. I thought this is the right model - since we can cleanly load and keep images small while checking if something is running after loading with CI/Hudson. But now we extract the kernel/core from the (bloated?) distro. For whatever reason I often see this tradition of "Stone carving" in Smalltalk. One has a large image and strips it down for deployment (throw out what you do not need). Often you get problems in unloading/ clean loading again. Classes are referenced across the image without checking the load order, ... Mmmmhhh ... who shares the same feeling that this is not a good idea! When there is a #shrinkToPharoCore then there is a pharo core image anyway - so we always have two images. And we have to test it and check if packages load cleanly anyway (using CI). Can you at least ellaborate what led to this step? Is PharoKernel the new Pharo Core? Will we test reloading after shrinking? ... Hi I try to build a 32bits Cog on Debian 64 bits. You can now have Phexample playing nicely with OB and Autotest... * Autotest - I uploaded a new package (Autotest-Core-SeanDeNigris.5) that will pick up Phexample and any other framework that defines tests differently (it uses the class's #allTestSelectors method). * OB - I uploaded a slice to the Pharo inbox that does the same for OB (SLICE-Issue-4449-Feature-OB-can-handle-arbitrarily-defined-test-selectors-SeanDeNigris.1). All it took was removing some duplication in the system - TestCase, Autotest, and OB were all repeating the "what is a test method" logic. They're pretty much identical. Anyway, I should have said "BSD". But identical is not the same. As soon as we ad Sophie code, we need to add the Sophie license to the license of Pahro. Hi all, especially Sean assume my recent posting has been overseen, therefore again: I'm referring to Sean's harvesting of Sophie. Is somebody going to finalize this Quicktime harvesting ? If not, I'm offering to do that job. A few remarks, what has to be done from my point of view (must not be a player like that in Squeak): start pause, stop (removes the morph) slider volume and mute reposition and resize (not by halo) ExternalDrophandler other than .mov video formats to be checked (what QT player is accepting) - an issue for the plugin (to be done by somebody experienced with plugins and details of video formats) Anyway I'm preparing a draft. In this context I also like to mention mp3 harvested kindly from Sophie by Sean as well it didn't work for me, as I tried it yesterday - mp3 format issue - I assume it's due to less maintenance of the mpeg3 plugin ( it seems from old Squeak days and was never touched later ) - did experience that with Squeak as well 2 years or more before Would like to handle this as well, but requires contribution of someone with plugin and mp3 experience I guess Cheers Johannes
