For PharoLauncher, I am trying to get a progress bar going for the downloading the Template lists, but the total transfer size is not being filled in for the HTTPProgress announcement. I've pulled out some code to Workspace script into [2] with the resulting Transcript result shown in [3]. I'm guessing this is due to the _"Transfer-Encoding: chunked"_ header clashing with the "Content-Length" header [1]. By putting a 'self halt' in ZnStatusLine>>readFrom: and executing several "Transcript crShow: (ZnLineReader on: stream) nextLine" the real headers were found as shown in [4], from which it seems the Content-Length is faked-up after the download finishes, and no use for a progress bar. So I only today discovered 'chunked' format, so I am curious... is there a particular advantage to use chunked for directory listing at "url=http://files.pharo.org/image/30/" ? Could it be changed to instead set Content-Length instead? btw, This is only for the directory listing (which however takes 10 seconds to get all). Hi, So... according to the doodle poll, hangout session will be Wed 2/10. I was thinking on doing it from 12 UTC to 17 UTC, to allow people of the new continent to join... what do you think? Esteban

I was playing w/ my preferences file and wondered how to set the preferences in the script (grew tired of looking in settings prefs window). So, I had a look in the Deep into Pharo book, page 70. "Now the question is how to find out that the desktop color setting is declared in PolymorphSystemSettings and that the DefaultFonts class allows fonts management? More generally where are all these settings declared and managed? The answer is quite simple: just use the Settings Browser! As explained in Section 5.2, cmd-b or double clicking on an item open a browser on the declaration of the current setting node. You can also use the contextual menu for that. Browsing the declaration will give you the target class (where the preference variable is stored) and the selector for the preference value." Ah double clicking on a pref gives the preferences settings class. How cool is that? As I also have my own preference classes, this whole settings framework is pretty good indeed! Phil

Hadn't realized previously that it was available. A lot of those projects have a non-obvious name, it might be interesting to have a few descriptive words directly in the list above (when available), rather than just the project name ? Minor bug : when you look up any particular project in a separate browser window/tab, the page title is always Â« truc Â» :)

XMLParser & PharoExtras, XMLWriter, XPath: status?

In the Pharo 20 image, I see that we do have XMLParser, XMLPullParser, XMLWriter and XPath listed in the configuration (new install with ZeroConf). I am also using Soup. That's because I am working on some OpenData and screen scraping work and wondered what was okay to use. Is Soup depending on these? (I have XMLReader and Writer in my image but don't know from where at the moment - but there are no tests, so only something like #Core was loaded. Also what is different between XMLParser and XMLPullParser? TIA Phil
