Hi alain thanks a lot! This helps us a lot. We got nearly something working. We will produce a list of methods and changes we had to do. see in the attached cs. Now lookupMenu "default implementation of the algorithm that lookup the menu" | default | default := [ self editingMode menu ]. ^ self model ifNil: [ default value ] ifNotNil: [ :m | m menu ifNil: [ default value ] ] We add a new method in nautilus that creates a menu as follow because m is our NautilusModel menu ^ self sourceCodeMenu: MenuMorph new shifted: false. But I was wondering why m menu does not take into account the information we passed when we created the rubPluggable sourceTextArea := self textMorphClass on: self text: #sourceCodeFrom: accept: #compileSource:notifying: readSelection: #contentsSelectionFrom: menu: #sourceCodeMenu:shifted:. I see that RubEditingArea has a policy but we could find how we can improve RubPluggable to use the menu: To: pharo-dev(a)lists.pharo.org From: pharo-dev(a)lists.pharo.org CC: alain.plantec(a)yahoo.com Subject: Re: [Pharo-dev] Trying to use Rubric in Nautilus .... Iâve added RubPluggableTextMorph and RubPluggableTextMorphExample.Need to be polished certainly but it should facilitate the integration of Rubric in Nautilus. cheersAlain On 12 May 2015, at 22:45, stepharo <stepharo(a)free.fr> wrote:For fun I put the following trace in sourceCodeFrom: aTextMorph Transcript show: '.'. ^ self sourceCodeAnd in general this method is invoked three times instead of one :) Before asking we read all the examples and I saw that selector: is used to communicate and update the code pane. What I meant is that I could use set: and pass the selector to be invoked by the dropdown when the drop down is selected. And it will notify self with the selector: selector. So we could sepcify any selector (ie I can register to the drop box and say call me once you are set). In RubMethodEditingExample>>#selector: it calls the update explicit self updateCodeWith: (cls sourceCodeAt: selector) and updateCodeWith: sets the text on the text model. Now my problem (and may be there is not solution) is how can I connect from a pluggableListMorph to a RubScrollText when the list does not generate announcement. This is why I tried to pass via dependents or something like that. I will try to generate announcements but this is a lot more work and I do not know if it will work. Stef

Installing trait blow the method def in hierarchy
by Yuriy Tymchuk May 14, 2015

May 14, 2015

Hi, Iâve noticed that if you install a trait on a class and a trait defines explicit requirement method, and this method is defined in a super class, it is being looked up during execution through #explicitRequirement method. It was slowing down my execution by almost 20%. Is there a special way to use a Trait to avoid that, or itâs work-in-progress solution? Uko

Reviewing Association and LookupKey
by Torsten Bergmann May 13, 2015

May 13, 2015

Three questions that might end up in issues: 1. Is there a reason why Association(class)>>#key:value: looks like key: newKey value: newValue ... ^(super key: newKey) value: newValue instead of key: newKey value: newValue ... ^(self key: newKey) value: newValue in case #key: will be redefined in Association class 2. What is the reason for LookupKey>>#canAssign. Method stamp says ajh from 2002. This message is not sent and I guess we can remove/deprecate it. 3. Similar question for LookupKey>>#isSpecialReadBinding from ar in 2003 This message is not sent and I guess we can remove/deprecate it. Comments welcomed! Thanks T.

Settings: Standardize Protocols
by Sean P. DeNigris May 13, 2015

May 13, 2015

What makes the most sense here? Some classes have the pragma methods in 'settings' and the accessors in 'accessing', others (e.g. Delay) have all of the above in 'settings'. Others have methods miscategorized (e.g. NECPreferences has half its defaults in 'defaults' and half in 'settings'. I see the logic in putting the accessors in settings to more clearly identify them? Maybe 'accessing settings' or 'settings-accessing'? Anyway once we decide it would be nice to clean this up... ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Settings-Standardize-Protocols-tp4826259.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Issue 15523: Code Cruft Rule Only Matches One-Liners
by Sean P. DeNigris May 13, 2015

May 13, 2015

https://pharo.fogbugz.com/default.asp?15523 Ouch, burned by "you must match at the level of the parse tree you are altering" again... It is ridiculously easy to fall into the following trap - when rewriting, you must match at the same level that you alter the parse tree. Thus, if your rule has one statement, like "`@object setHaltOnce", you can just focus on it... Unless you want to remove it completely! Then, you are altering the parse tree one level up, so you can't just write the above... Unless you're working on a one-line method, in which case you are at the top level and can do what you want! Woah! WTH!! Because of this common pitfall, RBCodeCruftLeftInMethodsRule was only matching one-line methods (which are the only ones we test of course). I rewrote it and added some tests. Fix in inbox: SLICE-Issue-15523-Code-Cruft-Rule-Only-Matches-One-Liners-SeanDeNigris.1 - Fix and clean RBCodeCruftLeftInMethodsRule to work on methods with multiple lines - Add tests for above - Move Object halting methods into 'halting' protocol. I had originally put them in an extension protocol, but Halt is in the same package, so that doesn't make much sense! ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Issue-15523-Code-Cruft-Rule-Only-Matches-One-Liners-t… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

New CogVMs available
by Eliot Miranda May 13, 2015

May 13, 2015

at http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r3336/. CogVM binaries as per VMMaker.oscog-eem.1299/r3336 Clarify how to specify variadic primitives in the Cogit's primitive table initializer (it had confused me enough to cause a regression). Fix the regression in genPrmitiveClass. Implement the stream primtiives using genFastPrimFail which should speed up the stream prims noticeably. -- best, Eliot
