Off Topic: Children 3-13yr english program -- 4 weeks free access
by Ben Coman July 20, 2015

July 20, 2015

greetings all, This is a long way off topic, but a random chance someone in the community with kids learning english may find it useful. The past year I've had m y4 & 6yr old girls doing Reading Eggs. Its aimed at native-english children ages 3-13 (starting with a test to place kids at a stimulating level). Its been beneficial for my kids, so I'm forwarding this offer to the community. http://e01.ams11.com/OutboundMessage.aspx?M=1581.347AD7EE-9C8B-4665-A061-90… cheers -ben

Overriding method - ExampleBuilderMorph>>#openModal:
by Jigyasa Grover July 20, 2015

July 20, 2015

Hi I have been using ExampleBuilderMorph and ExpanderMorph to build a accordion widget to display the search results of my application *searchQuick* which returns the list of file titles from the pre-loaded text files present in the resource folder when a string is searched for. You all are welcome to fork the code (https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new) , try the infancy application and send in suggestions. As I have been using the ExampleBuilderMorph>>#openModal: to view the expanders, [ https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new/blob/master/sQuick_new.package/PopUp.cl… LINE 33 ] I would like override this method to change the position and extent of the window which opens up because of #openModal: method. Help appreciated. Thanks Jigyasa

aCollection ifNotEmpty: [ ... do: [ ... ] ]
by Ben Coman July 20, 2015

July 20, 2015

Just curious... In AbstractTool>>renamePackages: what is gained from using... aCollection ifNotEmpty: [ ... do: [ ... ] Wouldn't "aCollection do: [ ... ]" be more concise for the same behaviour ? cheers -ben

RPackage classes name
by Franck Warlouzet July 19, 2015

July 19, 2015

Hello, Currently I am working on groups in Nautilus, and I am actually reimplementing them because I could not just fix them (There are a lot of bugs which make them almost unusable in practice), it is too complicated for nothing. Doing this I somehow have to use RPackage announcements and I am a little bit confused by their name. When you remove a package, an announcement RPackageUnregistered is raised, but I do not know if there is a difference with RPackageRemoved (which by the way does not exist, but I was expecting a name like that). What is this registration thing ? There is no RPackageRegistered but there is RPackageCreated. So I am confused. Does someone know if I should create an announcement RPackageRemoved or rename RPackageCreated into RPackageRegistered ? It does not seem consistent and so it is confusing. Or can someone explain to me the notion of registration for the RPackages ? Thanks, Franck
