[Pharo5] Improvements for Anonymous classes

Hi, Besides cleaning for the bootstrap, another thing we did yesterday was improving handling of Anonymous classes. 1) you can now browse methods of anonymous classes with nautilus *if* they inherit from Object (the main case) myClass := Object newAnonymousSubclass. myClass compile: 'test ^5'. myClass browse 2) #classInstaller for anonymous classes now returns an AnonymousClassInstaller 3) class builder name checking was fixed to not raise an error for the ânamesâ used for Anonymous classes ==> you can use #addSlot: on anonymous classes. To improve: - browser should show some kind of class definition so one can see the superclass - it would be nice to be able to browse "Behavior newâ, but in most cases people use anon subclasses of existing classes, so not that important. Hi, Small experiment: 1) add this method to Object: deprecated: anExplanationString rule: aRule | builder ast rewriteRule method | builder := RBCompositeRefactoryChange named: 'deprecation'. method := thisContext sender sender method. ast := method ast copy. rewriteRule := RBParseTreeRewriter new replace: aRule key with: aRule value. (rewriteRule executeTree: ast) ifTrue: [ builder compile: rewriteRule tree formattedCode in: method methodClass classified: method protocol ]. builder execute. 2) to see it in action, add it to #ifNotNilDo: in UndefinedObject: ifNotNilDo: aBlock "Please use #ifNotNil: instead" self deprecated: 'Please use #ifNotNil: instead' rule: '`@receiver ifNotNilDo: `@statements'-> '`@receiver ifNotNil: `@statements'. ^ self â> open a browser and see how it fixes code magically. The only problem is that it does a whole-method refactoring while it should only affect the node that triggered the deprecation. Else there could be wrong transformations if the same selector is used but only one of the implementations need to be rewritten, while if we are able to rewrite the exact sender, we can do it fully automatically. Versionner and BaselineOf

For projects developed with git, BaselineOfXyzs replace ConfigurationOfXyzs. What are the plans to update Versionner for this development? Image used for 4.0 -> 5.0 (Build 50000) transition

Which Pharo 4 image was used to create Build initial Pharo 5 image (build 5000)? According to the mailinglist archive from April [1] it seems to be build 40608. I wonder since in build 50000 the desktop manager works and in the Pharo 4 image 40608 it is not working. Was there anything applied special during the release process? Thanks T. Interesting Morphic improvement

Marcel Taeumel has made a lot of improvements to Morphic Squeak. This looks like an interesting one for us. I tried it in 50292 (making the changes in the right order) haven't found a problem yet. Nautilus and Work group

Nautilus in Pharo 5 now includes per default a group "Configuration" and "Work". But one has to manually put new work into the "Work" group. Would it make sense to put newly created packages automagically into this group as typically one is working on them?

[issue tracker] many issues marked "fixed upstream"

Hi, We have again many issues that are in the state âfixed upstreamâ. it would be nice if maintainers of packages could make sure that changes get reviewed+integrated and the package updates in Pharo so we can close them. There is nothing gained by postponing this sync back. Marcus
