New Cog VMs available...

... at http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r3427. Squeak V5 users will want to upgrade their VMs because they, along with Smalltalk changes to follow soon, fix image segments. But upgrading is not a trivial process because the VMs on my site are not complete. The best way to update is to take a copy of the Squeak 5.0 all-in-one and replace the main VM executable there-in with one from my site. This gets you up-to-date plugins and an up-to-date VM. I hope that this process will get easier soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CogVM binaries as per VMMaker.oscog-eem.1441/r3427 Modify Spur ImageSegment load to become the segmentWordArray into an Array of the loaded objects if load is successful, hence decoupling ImageSegment from the assumption that objects are allocated in order. Fix Integer receiver, float arg comparison with NaNs in the machine-code primitive. This has started failing in the FloatTest>>testNaNCompare since the new machine-code perform primitive invoked the machine-code version of the primitive. The Interpretewr code has always been correct and the old perform primitive would always run the Interpreter primitive if it exsted, since this would probably be faster. Fix the bug introduced by the fix to primitive function invocation in VMMaker.oscog-eem.1351 The fix correctly changed primitve code to set the primitiveFunctionPointer appropriately when a jitted external primitive was rebound, but it didn't remember to void the jit's record of the offset of the assignment that sets the primitiveFunctionPointer when switching between profiling andf non-profiling regimes, so that the address from the wrong regime would remain and be used to smash prmitive code. The fix is simply to void the externalSetPrimOffsets in voidCogCompiledCode. This fixes the bug whose symptom is a hard VM crash when using AndreasSystemProfilier. Integrate Marcel Taeumel & Tobias Pape's v2 SSL plugin changes. Fix negative 64-bit shift in the 64-bit Spur Stack interpreter. Newspeak: Fix MNU for cogged self and outer sends. Hi, when I load VoyageMongo in Pharo 4, it loads MagritteGlamourForPharo40 which loads Magritte3 which loads MagritteGlamourForPharo40 which needs GT-Inspector-SeanDeNigris.308 from http://www.smalltalkhub.com/mc/Moose/Glamour/main <http://www.smalltalkhub.com/mc/Moose/Glamour/main> and it is not there. Monkey validation report statistics

Is there somewhere that statistics of failures from the CI validation report are gathered? We've all experienced transient CI-monkey validation failures unrelated to our submitted fix, where just resubmitting to the monkey without change works fine. The problem is: * this may have been introduced several builds ago, but the transient failure passed the monkey at the time * it can be hard to identify which build introduced a transient error * doubly hard if the failure is due to some CI infrastructure change, or one particular build server * its hard to get an overview of how many issues get the same failure - is this a "once in six months" failure or is it happening 50% of the time in every issue. * it takes longer for an individual to observes a false-failure is common enough to worry about, than if reports were merged. Since different slices should produce different errors, failures common across all slices should stand out in statistics. If such statistics are not currently available, in cases where a simple resubmission passed the monkey, should we: * have an issue for each such false-failure, to get some early indication from manually track occurrences * where such an issue hasn't yet been created, first report comes to the list ------ So, I just got the following false-failures in separate runs for: https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/16265 * ProcessTerminateBug>>#testTerminationDuringUnwind * a CISmallIntRule: Timeout (after 0:00:40:00) occured while loading... Confused about libFT2Plugin

Today I did a new pharo install (get.pharo.org/40+vm) on a server (ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS, 64-bit with 32-bit libs). All went fine, as usual, but I was confused about the following: $ ./st-exec.st run-t3-proxies start t3-proxies Executing ./st-exec.st run-t3-proxies start t3-proxies Working directory /home/t3/pharo/t3-proxies Starting run-t3-proxies in background /home/t3/pharo/t3-proxies/../bin/pharo-vm/pharo --nodisplay /home/t3/pharo/t3-proxies/t3-proxies.image /home/t3/pharo/t3-proxies/run-t3-proxies.st ioLoadModule(/home/t3/pharo/bin/pharo-vm/libFT2Plugin.so): libfreetype.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Why is freetype needed/accessed for a headless image (that otherwise runs happily) ? Other operations (building, saving, ..) do not produce the error/warning. Sven
