SmalltalkHub is slow, so donât click too fast :-( While Iâm grateful to developers of SmalltalkHub and previously SqueakSource, I believe as a small community, we cannot afford developing everything by ourselves. We donât have enough man-power. We can see the symptoms since SmalltalkHub is in beta stage since way too long... Itâs better to use some mainstream platform such as github. Weâll we have support for it in Pharo 4? It would be interesting also from the communication point of view to make the world a little bit more aware of Pharo. Noury

Source code formatting guidelines

Hi guys, is there any document I can read on how Pharo source code is/should be formatted? I mean things like - tabs/spaces? How many spaces if spaces? - encoding of the source string - trailing newlines - trailing spaces - ... I don't care much about things like whether there should be a space after ^, opening [ and so on (because there's a little I can do about it :-) Best, Jan

Glamour-core maybe missing from Pharo40/main

Sometimes when I am hacking around the system, I use Monticello to review just what I've changed. In build 40390, I did a <Changes> of Glamour-Core (BernardoContreras.286) against Pharo40/main and got _lots_ of changes. Then it seems that this package is not in Pharo40/main. Should it be? Maybe this is because its an external package - but then its repository is not listed? cheers -ben

Hmm, there are also other configurations still loaded that should have been removed ConfigurationOfGTInspector ConfigurationOfGTPlayground. Though I'd prefer to see them as groups in a ConfigurationOfGToolkit Stephan

Hi, were is NB currently maintained? Only within the image as it is integrated or still with an external config and on STHub? The reason why I ask: when I load the latest NB-Core package from STHub it looks like this one is outdated and back from Pharo3 day (trying to load it gives problems from changes in Pharo 4). So it looks like NB was originally developed external using STHub, then integrated into standard image and now it is only internally in-image managed. OK. But the future goal is as far as I understood to manage more and more packages using external configs again. What is the status and future plan for NB? Will the repo get synchronized? Or will it stay internal only? Thx T.

Hi there, I am interested in helping out with writing tests in Pharo, and was wondering where would be a good place to start. I am familiar with Smalltalk from working at GemStone Systems in their QA department some years ago, but am somewhat new to Pharo. Any advice would be very appreciated. fixing 'format on display' and 'format on accept'

Hi - I'm going to get 'format on display' and 'format on accept' working in Nautilus. In Pharo 3 in the settings browser under 'code browsing' there is a 'pretty print' check box. As far as I can tell it doesn't affect code displaying at all in Nautilus. Is it OK to repurpose that checkbox as a control for 'format on display' and to also add a check box right there for 'format on accept' ? If not what would be better? Thanks Paul

Hi, I set the job for tests coverage testing of the mimimal Pharo using Hapao: https://ci.inria.fr/pharo/view/4.0-Bootstrap/job/Pharo-4.0-Bootstrap-Step-2… To load results you should load ConfigurationOfSUnit and ConfigurationOfKernelTests from Pharo/SystemConfigurations repository into an image with Hapao. Video Tutorial - Github for Pharo using Sourcetree

Hello pharoers , at last , my video tutorial for those that are not familiar with git and github, has been uploaded to YouTube. I describe the very basics of the process and give you enough information to create a github repository, clone the online repository to your hard driver and use the hard drive copy to commit changes to your code, upload and download your commits to and from your github repo . I use sourcetree to make the interaction with git as gui based as you are used with Pharo.
