If we assume that all repos with a given prefix will use the same credentials, the implementation will be much simpler... Conversation-starter in the inbox. [Pharo-project] Athens + Amber + HTML5 canvas

Hi, i just looked at js.html5 canvas.. you know that it will be very easy to port Athens on Amber and provide Athens API for html5 canvas. the functionality is quite similar to cairo. (a bit obfuscated though.. but still) Now the point it that one can use Athens API for drawing things in pharo as well as in browser.. without much changes.. So, you can develop & test graphics in pharo, and deploy in browser app.. Any takers? :) -- Best regards, Igor Stasenko.

Hi, Last week I've been sick, and because of that I've been bored. To get some fun I started to learn NativeBoos and Athens (and to stress Igor's patience on explain things :). After all, I prototyped a couple of examples that I think are fun: 1) AthensPlayground. This is a workspace prepared to fast-prototype athens animations (taking the same idea of http://www.processing.org/) You can see a video of the (for now) results here: http://youtu.be/NaR_fyk3qq4 I think it can be a good addition for people willing to do some animation work :) 2) After that, of course I was very happy, but I thought "why to stop there? now I want more!" and so, I made a quick search about physics library and after a couple of hours I made a (very primitive) Chipmunk usage framework and an even more primitive and simple "game engine like" framework, to mix both Athens and Chipmunk library. Ok, I know... is not like I invented the hot water, all of this was more or less present in morphic... but is cool to have real examples on using external libraries (also, physics are really hard to simulate, so... better to use something already existent). Hi, When using a Delay and saving the image, the delay becomes stupidly broken. Hi! I was surprised by trying to evaluate the following expression in a workspace: [[ false ] whileFalse: [ ]] and getting an error SubscriptOutOfBounds: 1... The strange thing is that compiling that expression inside a block works, but not in the workspace... Any idea? Guille

" * Framework for inter-image communication (over Internet). I am hoping that somebody else takes on this. ThereÂ were rumors about such a project, but I didn't hear anything about the guy in a while. This would allow to do real-time collaboration over Internet, to play games, etc. Sebastian Sastre is interested in this, but for Amber Smalltalk (running on the web). * Framework for seamless data/object-synchronization. I suggested this a while ago, didn't get much response. I don't blame anyone, there is not much need for this right now. What I would want is to be able to modify certain objects in my image, while offline, and connect to the Internet, and these objects be synchronized between other images. This way Internet-enabled apps could be built on top of Pharo in a better way that web-apps are built now (because, in Pharo you can not hit F5 and get fresh data ;-). But this is low-priority for me." Take a look at Spoon. Currently Available for Squeak only, its author , Craig is currently porting it to Pharo too. Its a system that communicates object between images in bytecode level , locally and remotely and even version controls them. http://netjam.org/spoon/ There is also Fuel which is a already very well known Pharo library again for serializing bytecode. Actually you just touched 2 areas that deeply interest me and I think most of the Pharo community. Games depend a lot on graphic engines , that is also the focus of my project, hence my interest in Athens. So yes I don't think we are as apart as you may think.
