[Pharo-project] OSProcess in Pharo 2.0

Hi, I was trying to play with OSProcess. Simple goal, to execute $ ldconfig -p | grep libcairo.so and get the result as a string or stream. Several problems I met: - newest OSProcess loaded from its configuration depends on FileDirectory which is not present in Pharo 2.0. - when I fixed previous point I wondered how to get the output of a particular command. Damien P. told me I had to use the particular OSProcess of Coral or use CommandShell - I tried installing CommandShell but its configuration depends on PluggableTextView which is not in Pharo 2.0 - when I fixed previous point, I realized CommandShell depends even more on FileSystem and I didn't understand how to get the output stream - so I gave up with CommandShell and tried Coral's OSProcess - So I fixed some references to FileDirectory again but then many unit tests of OSProcess didn't pass so I felt uncomfortable At the end, Coral's OSProcess worked for me, but I don't know why all these tests are failing -- Damien Cassou http://damiencassou.seasidehosting.st "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without losing enthusiasm." [Pharo-project] OSProcess ... ported to 2.0?

As I take yet another stab at getting the Metacello Preview running on Pharo2.0, I find that OSProcess is sprinkled with references to FileDirectory ... at least in the packages referenced by the configuration, so I'm wondering if a port exists for Phar0-2.0 ... At the moment OSProcess is a prerequisite .... If there is an alternate mechanism for running shell commands from Pharo2.0, then I assume that I'll be able to use that instead ... Dale

Hello! My student is looking for a topic for her term project/paper in area of Computer Graphics and UI maybe. I didn't pay enough attention to this area for some time, so I ask if there are some tasks we could help to solve here? Please note, she has no strong background in CG. One topic could be something about Morphic, but what is it exactly? Or any other idea is welcome also. And one more thing: our university imposes some additional requirements thus not every practically useful topic can be accepted, I'll have to select so more ideas is better. TIA for any help. Hello. I found very crappy behaviour: '01.03.2012' asDate => 3 January 2012 '30.03.2012' asDate => 30 March 2012 As you can see for first line #asDate use first number as month. But for last line It use second number as month. We should fix or remove such inconsistent behaviour. We all like to test something inside debugger or browser. Such way I was learn how I can parse date from String. And I saved it immediatelly at my code. But when current date become greater then day 12 my code become broken. And when I see this there was many nice russian words :)) I open ticket http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=6884
