[Pharo-project] Compiling code on a web request; non interactive compilation

Hi, I'm sending code from a web-based editor back into Pharo for compilation and trying to catch compilation errors and return them to the browser. I've created a notifier which implements #notify:at:in: and I pass an instance into the compiler in something like: compiler := Compiler new. compiler from: codeToCompile class: aClass context: nil notifying: notifier. compiler translate: codeToCompile readStream noPattern: false ifFail: [ ... ] Is there a better compiler API to use? I've noticed that I appear to have to mock additional methods in the notifier e.g. #selectFrom:to: and #selectionInterval, though still find that a morphic UI appears in my image asking for variable creation confirmation etc. I then tried using the NonInteractiveUIManager, but found my image quit with DNU on NonInteractiveUIManager>>#openDebuggerOn:context:label:contents:fullView:, which I duly implemented, but am starting to feel like there must be easier way. Hi! I'm absolutely newbie on linux, so I need help. Trying to run cog on Ubuntu 11.04. I've downloaded coglinux.tgz<http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r2468/coglinux.tgz>from http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r2468/, unpacked it and tried to run squeak from there in various variants. For example this way: ~/coglinux/bin/squeak â¦ In all cases I get error: "exec: 10: /home/chaetal/coglinux/bin/../lib/squeak/4.0-2489/squeak: not found" What am I doing wrong and what is the correct way to make Pharo run on Cog under linux? Hi guys Some of you may have the impression that we focus on the wrong bugs and fixes. Indeed the bugs of the debugger are important and the one of the server too. Now let us face reality - how can we deal with the bugs if there are not described with a way to reproduce them - how can we deal with bugs if we do not know if this is a bug or not For example, if the behavior worked in previous version or not if the behavior works in 1.4 - then let us imagine that some behavior looks like a bug: question was is the impact of fixing it. Because may be the strange behavior is just used in a lot of places. So do we change it or not. Come on DO YOU IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF WORK IT IS? So if we want to make progress we have to sort the bug tracker (and so far we do not like it because we cannot really group bug in subproject - sometimes we have 30 min to do something and not 3 hours - should we abandon all the little fixes to concentrate on "more important one" - Now the killing question: how many of you read bug entries and try to reproduce them? So may be we should put the bug tracker in read only so that we can get some work done.
