[Pharo-project] How to run cog on Linux
Hi! I'm absolutely newbie on linux, so I need help. Trying to run cog on Ubuntu 11.04. I've downloaded coglinux.tgz<http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r2468/coglinux.tgz>from http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r2468/, unpacked it and tried to run squeak from there in various variants. For example this way: ~/coglinux/bin/squeak ⦠In all cases I get error: "exec: 10: /home/chaetal/coglinux/bin/../lib/squeak/4.0-2489/squeak: not found" What am I doing wrong and what is the correct way to make Pharo run on Cog under linux? TIA! -- Dennis Schetinin
Are you trying to run a 32-bit binary on a 64-bit-exclusive OS? On 8 September 2011 06:48, Dennis Schetinin <chaetal@gmail.com> wrote:

What happens if you run the VM from Jenkis: https://ci.lille.inria.fr/pharo/view/Cog/job/Cog-Unix/ ? On Thu, Sep 8, 2011 at 8:31 AM, Milan Mimica <milan.mimica@gmail.com> wrote:

I had exactly the same problem with the VM from Jenkins (even before I tried Miranda's build). Iit looks like my Ubuntu is indeed 64-bits (I don't even know how to check that). I'm trying to find admin for the hosting to understand if it is possible to run 32-bit programs there. But, from another end: Is there ready-to-use 64-bit Cog version for linux available? I'm not sure I'll manage to build it myself (despite the fact I did at ESUG :). 2011/9/8 Mariano Martinez Peck <marianopeck@gmail.com>

No. You have to use 32 bits version. Just excute: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Maybe if we make enough pressure on the comunity... :) Heck, I'm going to port FFi or whatever it takes. -- Milan Mimica http://sparklet.sf.net
