Hi Phillipe, software changes and (new) bugs can appear - thats life and happens independent from Pharo or other technology. There is a simple rule: "If it is broken we should fix it" and I would add "and make sure it wont bug us anymore again". At least we should in minimum find such bugs before a release. Therefore attached is a simple test case that is green on my VM and should be red on your VM. Let's integrate it into Pharo, you already know the usual procedure to open an issue and I'm sure the Pharo team and VM maintainers will take care. Simple as that ... Side note about recommending technologies and bug fixing: I once found a bug in Swing, others already reported it and it is still after years(!) not fixed: http://astares.blogspot.com/2007/01/disappointing-swing.html So I have to wait and wait since I cant fix Swing myself... If this error would be in Smalltalk I would easily be able to change it until it is officially fixed. So in Smalltalk I can easily move on and it gives me the good feeling of beeing in control. Still Java is more recomended than Smalltalk. Why? I keep coming up against this situation over and over in testing. MyClass>>doSomethingWorthTesting ... now := DateAndTime now. ... I want to control DateAndTime class>>now to make this test determinate and simulate interesting edge cases, but can't figure out a good way. In Ruby, I could easily stub it because it's not a live system (or use dependency injection), but here I don't want to mess with the real DateAndTime class in case something goes wrong and leaves my system dirty. I really hate using dependency injection for this kind of thing (especially without Ruby's default parameter values). I've been creating MyClass>>now and stubbing that. Am I being paranoid, should I just hijack the real class and fix it when I'm done? What's the best way to do this? Thanks. Can anyone explain me why it would make sense to use #return: in the following method? TestCase >> executeShould: aBlock inScopeOf: anExceptionalEvent ^[aBlock value. false] on: anExceptionalEvent do: [:ex | ex return: true] I would instinctively replace [:ex | ex return: true] with the much simpler [:ex | ^ true].. Am I missing something here? camillo

To optimise the DrGeo canvas (get it faster), I try to understand in detail how is done the rendering of Morphs embedded in a pasteupmorph. I did not find any detailed information on the Internet about that. Any pointer? Right now, DrGeo canvas is a pasteUpMorph, the line, segment, point, circle, etc. are all Morph added in the pasteUpMoprh. Hi! Following some discussion about Mocketry, I wanted to know more about it. I've found http://www.cincomsmalltalk.com/publicRepository/Mocketry(Bundle).html and the squeaksource project. I read the tests but this is a bit cryptic. In 5 minutes, I couldn't find what it was exactly about. Any good url that google does not know about? Hi pavel I removed the ref to RecentMessageSet since we will remove it. And I noticed that there was a reference to TranscriptModel, so may be we should remove it since I'm not sure that we will keep it. Or may be this is a good idea of have a model :) Smalltalk globals at: #Transcript put: TranscriptModel new. Stef
