[Pharo-project] Metacello and file repositories

After a short debug session I've found it: Metacello extracts the repository type from the spec (see #extractTypeFromDescription: method). Either it begins with ftp:// -> FTP is used / -> a directory is used dictionary: -> a dictionary is used In any other case the default "http" is used as type. This is OK for directory names in unix and Mac, but not on windows platforms. If you write "c:\temp\foo" it will not catch the directory and set the type to http which is wrong. A short workaround is to implement MetacelloPlatform>>extractTypeFromDescription: like this: extractTypeFromDescription: description description == nil ifTrue: [ ^nil ]. ((description beginsWith: '/') or: [description second = $:]) ifTrue: [ ^'directory' ]. (description beginsWith: 'dictionary://') ifTrue: [ ^'dictionary' ]. ^'http' since on Windows you typically have the drive letter followed by a colon. I can load my config then. Dale: can you include this for now? However - this just works for absolute paths - not relative. Hi, Pharo is moving fast and some screencasts become obsolete (deprecated methods, updated packages, ...) or need subtitles. You can: - test that screencasts work in Pharo 1.1 - re-record screencasts with subtitles (check http://pharocasts.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-i-record-screencasts-for-pharoca… and http://www.my-guides.net/en/content/view/105/26/ for subtitles) - provide new screencasts based on Pharo collaboractive book, Pharo by example or Seaside book. - give feedback. - I use Linux, I'm still looking for screencasts on how to build squeakvm on Windows and OSX. Another easy way to help if you don't have time but money :) is to click the donate button as I'm looking at buying a new laptop with bigger screen, so I can provide screencasts with higher resolution. Hi, Why is the auto-completion in the dev images so stupid in the debugger? Why is it wildly guessing around in a debugger, where the type of all variables is well known? Hi! I gave a try to use Gaucho. But I feel a short tutorial is needed. It is not clear how and on what to install it. I tried a "ConfigurationOfGaucho project lastVersion load" in a Pharo 1.1. I got 14 red tests out of the 28 (Form class>>makeStar seems to be missing). Cheers, Alexandre

Hi Romain. I was thinking if it is possible the following scenario: sometimes I am typing somewhere (where I am at that moment) just to browse a class. So, I type for example "ImageSeg". The second element of the list of OCompletion is the one I want: ImageSegmentRootStub. So, I need to go to the second element, press enter, and then ctrl + b. Now I wonder if it would be possible to directly press ctrl b in the list of OCompletion so that it automatically browses that class. What do you think? Cheers Mariano
