http://modulecounts.com/ shows npm (node.js package manager) surpassed Java MavenCentral count of modules, and it is the fastest growing package manager. Though Pharo won't be up there anytime soon, the "1640 repositories" reported by SmalltalkHub's explore page are more than the PHP Pear count. And even when SH is not a module repository, it has a minimum volume worth mentioning there. Is there a public API of SmalltalkHub from where to pull this historic information? Esteban A. Maringolo

My image is crashing an close suddendly. In Nautilus right-click menu does not work. In order to start on a new image i need to fileout my classes by code not by menu. My question is how can i fileout a class from the workspace ? TIA Ing. Dear Friends The Pharo consortium http://consortium.pharo.org is launching a new program in direction to academic partners: teachers, Universities and research institutes. We realized that the advantages/duties to be an academic member were unclear. We really want to build a strong community. http://files.pharo.org/consortium/Membership%20Agreement%20for%20Academic%2… Here are the key facts extracted from the documentation. Here are the main advantages as an academic partner: - Direct access to Pharo core developers via an automatic subscription to a specific mailing list. - Access to Pharo documents and courses. - Its logo posted on the Pharo Website Academic pages. - The possibility to propose and participate in actions. Here are the main duties (which you are already doing) - Put a link to Pharo Consortium Website from its institutional website. - When using Pharo to teach, create web pages with document courses related to Pharo. - Provide Inria with an annual report of at most half a page of its actions to promote and sustain Pharo. Hi Igor, hi all! I am not sure how to properly draw ellipse. Reading the last n lines from a file without using lots of memory

I wonder how you guys would read the last n lines from a file in Pharo without reading through the whole thing. Is there code doing just that somewhere? The code I have is a shell script doing a 'tac file | tail -200 > /temp/something' I can always do that through OSProcess but wondered if there was something available. Reading through with a 200-entries FIFO circular buffer seems a bit silly to do. TIA Phil

A question about sets

Hi there, i am new to Smalltalk and Pharo and today, while trying out some examples, i observed an somewhat strange behaviour. I used this snippet from the pharo.org website: | numbers | numbers := Set new. 10 timesRepeat: [ numbers add: 100 atRandom ]. numbers explore. Using Pharo 3.0 on my Laptop with Manjaro Linux 32bit and copy pasting the snippet above into the workspace i get sometimes a set with 10 values, sometimes with 9 values and once a set with just 8 values. Using this snippet, just to test the timesRepeat message: 10 timesRepeat: [ Transcript show: (100 atRandom); cr. ]. i always get 10 values. Is the behaviour with the first snippet correct? Giving sometimes 10 or 9 or even 8 values. Or is it a bug? I would expect to always get 10 values in my set. By the way i am totally excited about your cool programming environment.
