Binary (external) objects

Hi, is it possible - at least in theory - to build a VM such that Pharo could handle binary objects ? For example, there may be objects written in C, in Golang, Lisp... you could load the objects into to image, you would see their methods as all other Smalltalk Code, with the difference that you could not see the implementation or do Smalltalk level debugging. I have in mind the FMI of Modelica (http://fmi-standard.org) I donât now if the modern FFI already works like this. And now, I donât reestablidvh CORBA :) Cheers Hans

Stream API

I've heard mention once or twice on this list and in some release notes of what sounded like possible coming changes to the stream API. Could anyone point me to any concrete details about that? I haven't been able to dig anything up myself by searching. I'm about to write something that I'd like to be polymorphic with the stream API, but if that's about to change, I'd like to plan ahead. Exchanging information between 2 pharo applications (2 images running on two different computers)

Hi all, I want to connect two applications (1 by image, each one on a different computer) so as as to exchange information (data) between them. So my question is about the best (smalltalk) practices to connect two app/image and exchange data. I imagine either with a direct connection through a network (TCP Socket, Web socket, pure HTTP with Zinc) and/or with a serial connection. At first, without any Â« security Â». But later, information exchanges will be encrypted. Iâve seen some information on how to use SerialPort, or even FileStream. I could do it (or at least simulate it with HTTP). What are the other options ? Socket ? Do we have P2P libs (I couldnât find) with eventually discovery features ? Any comment / suggestion / pointers are greatly welcome. TIA. CÃ©drick

I would say that is an entirely different question. If a test isn't stable, you have a completely different scenario from a test that interrupts execution and is resumed. Hi, Pillar now ships with a text editor that also features a syntax highlighter. So, now, if you load the development version of Pillar: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'Pier' project: 'Pillar'; configuration; loadDevelopment. You will have an extra presentation when inspecting a .pillar file: The new thing here is that the highlighter is based on the Pillar PetitParser, and it is extensible for highlighting more parts if needed. The highlighting also can support actions. For example, the picture above shows the file to the right after clicking on the reference. Please take a look and let me know what you think.
