In short, the problem appears to be that the test runner keeps executing instructions after the initial error and opens a window for each subsequent error, which could be a lot of windows if the error is in the middle of a parse. When I get an error in a message send, the system now seems to open a warning window for every message in the stack, which can amount to hundreds of messages. In Pharo 4, only one warning opened. In addition, when I select a warning message, I get the debugger with no stack; the stack no longer seems to be aggregated and available to the debugger instance. Is there a system setting that controls the behavior? I looked around---I tried turning off the Glamorous tools---but nothing seemed to have any effect. The behavior is very difficult to work with. I don't create a new process in the code, but I can't speak for the underlying libraries like Zinc. In any case, as you can see above, the titles of the three windows are different. [9:29] @dionisiydk: In addition, each window in the stack contains exactly one message, but in exploring the data, the messages all appear to deal with the same set of objects used by the tests [9:31] As I mentioned before, I made the switch to Pharo 5 last week. Before last week, the same tests produced a single error message. [9:31] I did reload the underlying libraries as part of moving my software into the new image, so maybe the underlying libraries changed. Hi, today I moved to Pharo5. It is great to get feedback and solutions for problems so quickly. It is a pleasure to work with Pharo and to have the community. I am grateful for having this. I have one comment. I don't want to complain, I can use it but I was wondering about the new position and size of the debugger buttons. There is a longer distance now from code text pane to the buttons - I see this as disadvantage to earlier versions of Pharo from the user experience. The buttons are a lot of smaller - same disadvantage - both if you use the mouse. Ok, after seeing that, I thought "Sabine, you should use keyboard shortcuts here, too" (I use much of them but interesting - til now not in the debugger). Then I saw the shortcuts for Proceed cmd+r Restart cmd-shift-a Into cmd-e over cmd-shift-o through cmd-shift-t especially into, over and through have so different key combinations, two with shift, one without shift. When I debug, I often use for example into-into-over-over-over-throuhg-through--into-into etc...and with the combinations cmd-e and cmd-shit-e, it is more "finger-work". It would be better to have all those shortcuts with or all shortcuts without shift. And the letters not so far away at the keyboard (e-o-t) This is only my opinion and my first impression after one day with Pharo5. I am sure, after a few days, I forgot that this was uncomfortable because I have the shortcuts coming automatically into my fingers. Is lazy evaluation of infinite series possible?

I am just learning Pharo (taking the MOOC actually!) and am wondering whether it is possible to model formal power series. I have done this in Haskell quite easily and efficiently, but struggled to do it in Python without real success. It requires one to perform operations on an infinite stream (such as multiplying two infinite power series). One then only evaluates the terms as they are needed, i.e., lazily. Pharo 5 accented chars bug/regression

Hi, seems like Pharo 5 (Win 7 64bit) has a regression / new bug with same symptoms as described in: http://lists.pharo.org/pipermail/pharo-dev_lists.pharo.org/2010-May/027180.… Nearly all accented characters work ok. Seems like any character can be pasted in and displays correctly, but any attempt to directly enter "Ä" or "Ä" ("caron" + c / e) fails. Pharo Catalog broken?

Hello everybody, it looks like the pharo catalog has a problem with the database: if I query the web service, or browse the page http://catalog.pharo.org/, I get the following error. VOMongoError: Lazy reference not found CatalogRepository: OID(67173037322134959457277313026) Maybe some aggressive cleanup? Tommaso

problem getting moose

I wanted to try out Peter's XMI Analyser with Roassal and went to download Moose but had a couple of problems. First try... In the Launcher under Common Tools, I downloaded and Moose 5.1(stable) fine, but it is Pharo 4, so tried to download Moose 6.0(beta) -- but got a problem - big pause, no progress bars, the later ZipArchive reporting "Error: can't find EOCD position" Second try... The web site advises for Moose 6.0 to download the Moose code in a Pharo 5.0 image per... Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'Moose' project: 'Moose'; configuration; loadDevelopment. Doing that in build 50760 download with the Launcher produced... Could not resolve: Phexample [Phexample-NikoSchwarz.57] in /home/ben/.local/share/Pharo/images/Moose6-50760/package-cache http://www.squeaksource.com/Moose ERROR: 'GoferRepositoryError: Could not access http://www.squeaksource.com/phexample: ZnInvalidUTF8: Illegal leading byte for utf-8 encoding' Could someone check if they see the same, or maybe my Internet is flakey atm? Issue on Seaside beginning

Hello. I am following #PharoMOOC and it become more and more exciting. I were doing TinyBlog exercise and I got an issue. I looked at the forum but any solution and I am stuck now like many others. I have created my class TBApplicationRootComponent, create a server that listen at :8080 and start it, regiser my application.... Pharo 5 hanging and crashing

Hello All, I am new to Pharo and Smalltalk in general. I have been experimenting with Pharo 5 trying to get acquainted with the environment and the language. I have been having some issues with the image hanging and crashing. This happens when trying code in the Play Ground and especially when stepping through code in the debugger. Has anyone had similar problems? Should I be using Pharo 4 instead? I have been testing Pharo on Windows 8 64bit and Ubuntu 14.04 64bit. Could this be a 64bit issue? Thanks
