Let's update Source Sans/Code fonts! Slice in inbox
by Aliaksei Syrel Nov. 6, 2015

Nov. 6, 2015

Hi As you may know current embedded fonts don't have many non-latin characters. Luckily adobe updated them and pushed new versions on github https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-sans-pro https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-code-pro [image: Inline image 1] Here is issue: https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/16935/Source-Sans-and-Code-fonts-do-not-s… And slice: SLICE-Issue-16935-Source-Sans-and-Code-fonts-do-not-support-non-latin-characters-symbols-or-cyrillic-AliakseiSyrel.1 Cheers, Alex

Wow things have changed.

Looking at Pharo 4.0 First, I'm a little confused by the Configuration Browser - did this replace Monticello?. I'm not clear on the difference between a package and configuration and also the "Load Stable" vs "Load Configuration". Is Load Configuration the bleeding edge or something? I guess I could use a primer on the new modern way of managing code packages. I have a project to do that will involve a raspberry pi 2, a data feed from an arduino managing sensors, mapping/navigation, and a touch screen. In my googling I have spotted some articles on running Pharo on raspberry pi, and open street map with roassal2. I'm basically building an appliance here but would love to develop on my mac and deploy to the raspberry pi 2 as full screen. I looked at the release notes for raspbian OS and it seems a package 'squeak-vm' was updated in 2013 for it. Not sure about cairo for roassal2? Any pointers? I think this could be a really cool use case for Pharo. Thanks -Todd Blanchard

Flow layout for Bloc/Brick?
by Stephan Eggermont Nov. 6, 2015

Nov. 6, 2015

Is there already a layout for Bloc/Brick that lays out submorphs horizontally as long as they fit and then adds them on new lines? It is still unclear to me where Bloc/Brick questions should go. Stephan

NativeBoost: Could not find accessor for variable "aModuleName" in NativeBoost>>#loadModule:
by Nicolas Anquetil Nov. 5, 2015

Nov. 5, 2015

Anybody has an idea what the problem could be? Difficulty is that I cannot debug directly because it is not on my computer. The library to load (/usr/lib/cairo.so.2) is present on the computer and pharo detects it. Any idea on how to investigate this or where the issue could lie? nicolas

Nautilus with fasttable and transparenticons
by Nicolai Hess Nov. 5, 2015

Nov. 5, 2015

Since we use FastTable in Nautilus, if you drag a Nautilus window, some icons become transparent. (protocol icons for "private" and "initialization"). This is because fast table scales all icons to size 16@16 and this will convert 8bit forms to 16 bit forms and this may lose transparency information. you can simulate this with f:= Form extent: 100@ 100 depth:32. fill := (GradientFillStyle colors: (Color wheel: 10)) origin: 50@50 ; direction: 0@50;radial:true. f getCanvas fillRectangle: (10@10 extent: 80@80) fillStyle: fill. f getCanvas frameRectangle: f boundingBox width:2 color:Color blue. (f asFormOfDepth:16) asMorph openInHand. drawing this imagemorph works on the display screen but if you drag the morph it becomes invisble (what you see is only the shadow). the same behavior if you start with a form of depth 8. converting a form of depth 32 to 8 or 8 to 32 works. 8 to 16 or 32 to 16 does not work. There were some discussions on pharo/squeak ML (search for "fixalpha") But I don't know where this is fixed in squeak, but it works in squeak. I don't know exaclty what's the problem, converting the form or displaying it? any ideas?
