Using a newer vm with PharoLauncher, platform differences
by Stephan Eggermont Nov. 13, 2015

Nov. 13, 2015

I wanted to use a newer vm with PharoLauncher, so I added a vms directory in /Users/stephan/Library/Application Support/Pharo/ and used curl get.pharo.org/vmLatest50 | bash to install it there. In PharoLauncher I then set the vm full path to either /Users/stephan/Library/Application Support/Pharo/vms/pharo-vm/Pharo.app/Contents/MacOS/pharo or /Users/stephan/Library/Application Support/Pharo/vms/pharo-vm/Pharo.app Neither works to launch an image (Mac 10.10.5). The similar procedure on Ubuntu 15.04 works (though the apt dependencies of SDL2/Cairo/Freetype:i386 are somewhat broken). What is the vm path supposed to be? Stephan

[Pharo-project] StandardFileStream size limit?
by Göran Krampe Nov. 13, 2015

Nov. 13, 2015

Hey all! I have just added large file (chunkwise upload and download) support to Kom/Networking/Iliad in Pharo 1.4 and while testing it I tried uploading a 2.9Gb file. I haven't looked at the exact error message, and I haven't tried writing a trivial test - but the "half written" file on disk is almost EXACTLY 2Gb (2147483647) so I am wondering - do we still have a 2Gb file size limit? This is "one click 1.4" on Ubuntu 64 with ext4. regards, Göran

Some menu entries should not be in spotter
by Stephan Eggermont Nov. 13, 2015

I managed to start 'Software update' by typing Date in spotter. There are probably a few more menu entries that should not be so easily accessible? Stephan

Smalltalkhub returning 500 response for a public repository
by Euan Mee Nov. 12, 2015

Nov. 12, 2015

I've been trying unsuccessfully to write to the SandstoneDb public repository at smalltalkhub.com http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~gnaritas/SandstoneDb shows the green tickmark and PUBLIC Writing to a package within it receives a 500 error. The specific package I am writing to is: SandstoneDbTests which is marked in Monticello (after I have downloaded it) as belonging in http://smalltalkhub.com/mc/gnaritas/SandstoneDb/main as do all the other listed packages, i.e. ConfigurationOfSandstoneDb SandstoneDb SandstoneDbFileSystemStore SandstoneDbFuel SandstoneDbFileDirectoryStore SandstoneDbSqueak SandstoneGOODS SandstondDbGOODSTests (Thank you to Max Leske for confirming it was a 500 error at the smalltalkhub.com end that was causing the debugger to respond to my attempted commit).
