PluggableTextFieldMorph Entry Completion Enhancement
by Sean P. DeNigris June 17, 2016

June 17, 2016

I've run into a limitation a few times where PluggableTextFieldMorph accepts the text regardless of the outcome of the entryCompletion's chooseBlock. I've found that this is not always appropriate. As such, I propose that PluggableTextFieldMorph skip accepting if the chooseBlock returns false. Any thoughts? ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/PluggableTextFieldMorph-Entry-Completion-Enhancement-… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Automatic deprecation refactoring
by Marcus Denker June 17, 2016

June 17, 2016

Hi, I have dusted off and improved the automatic refactoring of deprecations. - when the refactoring engine is not present, it falls back to a standard deprecation - It does not introduce any dependencies (can just be in the Kernel, the only cost is one method of 10 lines). - It sets the author so it does not require initials - It refactors â*only*â the sending (offending, deprecated) send site. So a second selector that is identical (which might be a different method and not deprecated) will not be affected. The way to use it is this: ifNotNilDo: aBlock self deprecated: 'Please use #ifNotNil: instead' transformWith: '`@receiver ifNotNilDo: `@statements' -> '`@receiver ifNotNil: `@statements'. ^ aBlock ifNotNil: aBlock As we try to provide already Lint rules for deprecations (or at least should have..) the amount of additional work is not much. This is the full implementation: deprecated: anExplanationString transformWith: aRule | rewriteRule method context node | context := thisContext sender sender. (Smalltalk globals hasClassNamed: #RBParseTreeRewriter) ifFalse: [ ^self deprecated: anExplanationString ]. method := context method. node := context sourceNodeExecuted. rewriteRule := (Smalltalk globals classNamed: #RBParseTreeRewriter) new replace: aRule key with: aRule value. (rewriteRule executeTree: node) ifFalse: [ ^ self ]. node replaceWith: rewriteRule tree. Author useAuthor: 'AutoDeprecationRefactoring' during: [method methodClass compile: method ast formattedCode classified: method protocol] https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/18507/ This is *with intention* the absolute âsimplest thing that can possibly workâ. There is no interactive tool to preview refactoring in interactive mode, or some way to opt in or out. The power of things like this comes from actually using them, not from being perfect... Marcus

Issues with CI Worker
by Yuriy Tymchuk June 17, 2016

June 17, 2016

Hi, there is a project which validates slices and configurations submitted to issue tracker. Lately Iâve discovered a couple of issues and opened cases about them: https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/18502/ https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/18499/ Also one of my tests is regularly failing during validation. The test checks if certain singleton is updating itâs cache when a class is removed. For some reason during validation the object is not subscribed to the system announcer any more. I need to know if there is something special happening in the CI worker, I if I need to manage the subscription in a different way. It would be really nice if someone who is familiar with the CI project gave me a hand because it takes plenty of time to understand how it is working⦠Cheers. Uko

Official packages on pharo.com - broken
by Petr Fischer June 17, 2016

June 17, 2016

Hello, look at this page: http://pharo.org/gnu-linux-installation and try to download "libc < 2.15" or "centos" versions. Both are broken - error message immediately after start: "This interpreter (vers. 6505) cannot read image file (vers. 6521)." So, the first impression is really terrible (don't work at all). Default GNU/Linux download is probably OK. pf
