perform:withArguments: and collection
by Peter Uhnak March 12, 2017

March 12, 2017

Hi, Apparently sending #perform:withArguments: and using OrderedCollection leads to PrimitiveFailed. I can recast it, but maybe we can just add (argArray isArray) ifFalse: [ ^ self error: 'Arguments must be instance of Array' ] to make the error less cryptic. (or allow OrderedCollection, but since the operation is done in VM it might be needlessly more work.) Peter

Did we lose edit-in-place in GT Inspector in Pharo 6?
by Sean P. DeNigris March 12, 2017

March 12, 2017

Double clicking on a value in the raw tab seems to have no effect. p.s I asked twice in Discord with no response. I guess I'm finally getting old enough that I don't understand how to use new platforms ;) ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Did-we-lose-edit-in-place-in-GT-Inspector-in-Pharo-6-… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Developers mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

what is the SpecLayout architecture?
by Peter Uhnak March 12, 2017

March 12, 2017

Hi, this is probably a tall order, but is there some description of SpecLayout architecture? To clarify: I am NOT asking how to use SpecLayout, I am asking how SpecLayout works internally. iirc SpecInterpreter was rewritten by Johan & Stef, so maybe you guys have some notes? Thanks, Peter

Why do we have doublequoting for "?
by stepharong March 12, 2017

March 12, 2017

about quoting ;( Hi I have a string '<li> Stéphane Ducasse and Damien Pollet, Fingerprints, Journal of Information System, 2010. </li> ' and when I do printIt in the debugger I get the following "'<li> Stéphane Ducasse and Damien Pollet, Fingerprints, Journal of Information System, 2010. </li> '" I do not get why we doublequote the character " inside string. It means that I have to remove all the " inside to string to be able to express tests. Stef

Fwd: Where are the Metacello ConfigurationOfYourProject supposed to be?
by Nicolas Cellier March 11, 2017

March 11, 2017

Grrr, even the mailing list changes, the first match in gmail just bounces, ;) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Nicolas Cellier <nicolas.cellier.aka.nice(a)gmail.com> Date: 2017-03-10 0:05 GMT+01:00 Subject: Where are the Metacello ConfigurationOfYourProject supposed to be? To: Pharo Development <Pharo-project(a)lists.gforge.inria.fr>, The general-purpose Squeak developers list < squeak-dev(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org> Hi, I must come back to one of the balkanization and lack of stability that most upset me. Imagine that you are developping a cross dialect library, say for Squeak/Pharo and why not Gemstone. Imagine that this library has a few dependencies to some other libraries, either Core like Alien/FFI or more exotic third party also available in other dialects. The question are: -1) where are you supposed to maintain your own ConfigurationOf*? -2) where are you supposed to find the ConfigurationOf* dependencies? Once upon a time, the answer would have been http://www.squeaksource.com/MetacelloRepository But now, what is it? I see surprisingly few updates here (apart from Sven and a few others). How can the Metacello feature of supporting cross-dialect work if the dialect specific configuration of dependencies are scattered all around the web? Do the CPAN or PyPI have to change their URL each time a new release of perl or python is released? Careless decisions in this area can easily sabotage the cross-dialect initiative. Maybe I'm ranting by ignorance. I wish your answers will reassure me. Nicolas

Spec menu shortcut
by Martin Dias March 10, 2017

March 10, 2017

Is it known that Spec models ignore menu shortcuts? at least some of them, TreeModel and FastTableModel. Example: | example | example := FastTableModel new. example items: (1 to: 10); menu: [ | aMenu | aMenu := MenuModel new. aMenu addGroup: [ :aGroup | aGroup addItem: [ :anItem | anItem name: 'Halt'; shortcut: $h command; action: [ 1halt ] ] ]. aMenu buildWithSpecAsPopup ]; openWithSpec. This is latest Pharo 6. Cheers, MartÃn
