Hello everyone, Last week I did these tasks: - Improve and integrate parametrized tests. Check these changes in the: PR 9683 <https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/pull/9683> - Fix previous refactoring commands to load some methods of them in Calypso (to not have "is Undeclared" message while we load the package) Tasks for this week: <https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/issues/9142> - Add an option of settings to switch the use of refactoring between RB1 and RB2. - Continue migrating refactoring. FileLocator uninitialised ?

Hi, It seems that in the latest Pharo 9 (downloaded minutes ago) the following: FileLocator desktop resolve. Pops up a dialog asking to set the location of {desktop} manually. I am guessing FileLocator did not properly initialise at startup. It seems it is missing from the session manager. This is bad. Maybe the full list of classes that are supposed to be part of the session manager's start up sequence need to be checked. Such a failure to initialise are sometimes hard to find and can lead to subtle bugs. Sven

Metacello / Iceberg / GitHub master to main renaming

Hi, For new GitHub projects the default branch is now main instead of master. There is however code in Metacello / Iceberg / ... that tries a number of options if no branch is specified, but it is not yet aware of this change. Specifically: This does not work ./pharo reddit.image metacello install github://svenvc/Reddit BaselineOfReddit instead you have to say ./pharo reddit.image metacello install github://svenvc/Reddit:main/ BaselineOfReddit It took me half an hour to figure this out ;-) Sven

[Zdc]SocketStream>>#openConnectionToHostNamed:port: no longer signals am exception on macOS

Hi, It seems that the following consistently crashes a recent/latest Pharo 9 image/vm on macOS: (ZdcSocketStream openConnectionToHostNamed: 'localhost' port: 12335) nextPut: 0; close. Command line, you can try it as follows: $ ./pharo Pharo.image eval "(ZdcSocketStream openConnectionToHostNamed: 'localhost' port: 12335) nextPut: 0; close. #foo" You can replace ZdcSocketStream by SocketStream, same result. Before, trying to connect to a non-existing host:port resulted in a ConnectionTimedOut: Cannot connect to 127.0.0.1:12335. Now, the code just returns and the bad stream is then used as if it is OK, which results in a hard crash. Furthermore, there is no backtrace nor log. Sven

Serious NetNameResolver regression

Hi, It seems that we have a serious NetNameResolver regression: instead of signalling an exception, a bogus value is returned. Pharo 7: [ NetNameResolver addressForName: 'unknown-stfx.eu' timeout: 10 ] on: NameLookupFailure do: [ :exception | exception ]. "NameLookupFailure: cannot resolve 'unknown-stfx.eu'" Pharo 9: [ NetNameResolver addressForName: 'unknown-stfx.eu' timeout: 10 ] on: NameLookupFailure do: [ :exception | exception ]. "0.0.0.0" This is bad. What is even worse is that the following kills your image without leaving any trace (on macOS): ZnClient new get: 'http://unknown-stfx.eu'.
