MethodAnnouncements not fired on anonymous subclasses
by Peter Uhnák July 6, 2018

July 6, 2018

Hi, I'm porting some of my code from P5, and it seems that MethodAnnouncements are no longer being fired on anonymous subclasses. Is this a bug or a feature? script: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ normalCls := Object subclass: #Something. anonymousCls := normalCls newAnonymousSubclass. normalCls removeSelector: #meNormal. self logCr: ''. methodAdded := [ :method | self log: method; log: ' '; logCr: method method printString ]. methodModified := [ :method | self log: method; log: ' '; logCr: method method printString ]. SystemAnnouncer uniqueInstance weak when: MethodAdded send: #value: to: methodAdded; when: MethodModified send: #value: to: methodModified. anonymousCls compile: 'meAnn ^ ''add'''. anonymousCls compile: 'meAnn ^ ''change'''. normalCls compile: 'meNormal ^ ''add/change'''. SystemAnnouncer uniqueInstance unsubscribe: methodAdded. SystemAnnouncer uniqueInstance unsubscribe: methodModified. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ P5 transcript: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a MethodAdded a subclass of Something>>#meAnn a MethodModified a subclass of Something>>#meAnn a MethodAdded Something>>#meNormal a MethodModified Something>>#meNormal ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ P6 + P7 transcript: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ a MethodAdded Something>>#meNormal a MethodModified Something>>#meNormal ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks, Peter

Need help to get a list of Pharo projects with tests
by Julien July 5, 2018

July 5, 2018

Hello Pharo community, I am currently working on detecting rotten tests in Pharo projects. Rotten tests are defined as test methods containing one or many assertions in their source code but one or many of these assertions are not executed when the test is run. To have more details on the subject, you can check the research report related to our first definition of these tests freely available on HAL [1]. In this context, we built a test analyser which, given a Pharo package containing tests, finds rotten tests [2]. This analyser is still under development. We would like to extend the experiment of our research report [1] and to analyse more projects in order to get a better understanding of rotten tests. To do that, we need your help. You can help us in two ways: 1. Answer this email with links to one or many open-source Pharo projects containing tests. 2. If you want, provide us private projects or, at least, run our analyser on these private projects and give us back the results. If you want to help us with the second option, send me a mail directly at julien.delplanque(a)inria.fr <mailto:julien.delplanque@inria.fr>. Thanks in advance. Promote new Pharo 7 VM?
by Alistair Grant July 4, 2018

July 4, 2018

Hi Esteban, Would you consider promoting a new Pharo 7 VM? 140ff02 should finally solve an issue I've had with time zones and DST on Windows in the FileAttributesPlugin. Testing I've done on this VM: - Loaded up and used my normal dev environment. - Run the full automated test suite on: -- Linux 64 bit -- Linux 32 bit -- Win 32 bit In each case the set of failures in my environment roughly aligns with the current stable VM and the proposed one. I guess if anyone else has any objections they'll reply to this. :-) Of course, if you've got any questions or concerns, please let me know. In case it is useful for anyone, download links are: Linux 64 bit: http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur64/linux/pharo-linux-x86_64threaded-201… Linux 32 bit: http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur32/linux/pharo-linux-i386threaded-20180… Mac 64 bit: - http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur64/mac/pharo-mac-x86_64-201806171702-14… - http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur64/mac/pharo-mac-x86_64-201806171702-14… Mac 32 bit: - http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur32/mac/pharo-mac-i386-201806171702-140f… - http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur32/mac/pharo-mac-i386-201806171702-140f… Win 32 bit: http://files.pharo.org/vm/pharo-spur32/win/pharo-win-i386-201806171702-140f… Thanks!
