[Pharo-project] suggestion for the category chooser
by Stéphane Ducasse Feb. 23, 2009

Feb. 23, 2009

Hi I think that the category chooser could be improved to avoid to have to type twice the category. Right now if I want to create a category I have to know up front whether it exist or not then I have to select new if it does not else if naively I type the new cat the ui tells me well that it is not defined but in such a case I have to retype it. The solution could be remove the fact that for new category we have to press new... when the user enter the category whether it matches or not return the string that the user entered modulo with its matched string in the list. This way as a user I do not have to choose upfront. I want to create a cat I either select on the list or I type and there is one which I can select or I type and there is none in the list so we get a new one the I typed. Stef

[Pharo-project] Question about Morphic
by Alexandre Bergel Feb. 23, 2009

Feb. 23, 2009

Dear All, I know some of you are morphic expert :-) I am still on the quest to make Mondrian usuable in Squeak/Pharo. The situation is the following: I have a window having scrollbar, and I am trying to render (using Balloon) something bigger than what the window can actually display. Balloon seems to not be aware of the part of the canvas being actually displayed. It simply try to render everything. Is my guess right? Can anyone confirm please? Is there a way to turn this on? Cheers, Alexandre -- _,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;: Alexandre Bergel http://www.bergel.eu ^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;.

[Pharo-project] httpProxyServer username and password
by Geert Feb. 23, 2009

Feb. 23, 2009

I am running my Pharo image from a USB stick and I am having problems connecting to the internet at work . I can't seem to find how to set the corporate http proxy username and password anywhere ... I did manage to find the httpProxyPort and httpProxyServer settings using the preference browser but how do I specify the username and password? -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/httpProxyServer-username-and-password-tp2331762p233176… Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

I just noticed, that in the Squeak Mantis bug tacker there is a project called Pharo. This should be deleted to avoid confusion. Does anybody know who to contact? Adrian ___________________ http://www.adrian-lienhard.ch/

[Pharo-project] Getting started
by David Finlayson Feb. 22, 2009

Feb. 22, 2009

What's the trick to getting a pharo image up and running? I tried downloading the pharo-dev image 20231 from the downloads page, then I added SqueakV39.sources from a Squeak image. When I launched I got an error dialog saying: Error: a primative has failed. I was hoping to take a look around at the work you folks are doing. -- David Finlayson

[Pharo-project] Tagging methods for expected lint failures
by Adrian Lienhard Feb. 22, 2009

Feb. 22, 2009

I've looked at some of the "Message sent but not implemented:" issues that Damien created. In tests where classes and methods are created at runtime, Lint incorrectly complains. Do we use pragmas to mark the expected failures (see http://www.lukas-renggli.ch/blog/ignoring-lint-rules)? Is this lint pragma honored by the version of Lint that we use?
