[Pharo-project] macintosh clipboard and images
by John M McIntosh July 14, 2009

July 14, 2009

A couple of years ago the Sophie team built out the logic to enable the cut/copy/paste of a tremendous amount of clipboard data types in and out of Squeak. For the macintosh this include image data, data from selections made in the finder, and oh I don't know it seemed like 42 flavours of Textual data. it seems a shame to let that go all to waste and let Pharo languish with UTF-8. The problem has always been Oh EToys won't support FFI so progress on this front seems dim. However I'm wondering if there is any interested if I port the Sophie clipboard work to Pharo? Using FFI for the macintosh & Windows, where windows requires QuickTime for Window. Note the Sophie team decided because Quicktime for Window was a pre- requirement for iTunes that well everyone has iTunes on windows now... PS I note there are some hassles, Microsoft word for example sticks both the TIFF for the page, the UTF-16, UTF-8, ascii, macroman etc. on the the clipboard for a page. Very difficult to figure out what to do for that, in that case we knew the target was either image data, or text data, since we knew what the target was, but for Pharo I"m not sure what the solution would be. -- = = = ======================================================================== John M. Re: [Pharo-project] problem with TextMorph>>handleInteraction:fromEvent:
by Esteban Lorenzano July 13, 2009

July 13, 2009

Hi, is just #handleInteraction: in pharo (my mistake) I'm uploading a changeset. Cheers, Esteban On 2009-07-12 12:58:42 -0300, Stéphane Ducasse <stephane.ducasse-MZpvjPyXg2s(a)public.gmane.org > said: in TextMorph I do not see this method On Jul 12, 2009, at 4:25 PM, Esteban Lorenzano wrote: Ouch, bad method, please replace: #handleInteraction:fromEvent: (the squeak event), for #handleInteraction: (the pharo equivallent) Cheers, Esteban On 2009-07-12 11:22:47 -0300, Esteban Lorenzano <estebanlm-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w(a)public.gmane.org> said: Hi, I'm working to make Algernon works on pharo, and I found what seems to be a bug (or at least something that "revesls" a bug), in TextMorph>>handleInteraction: This is what happens: the Algernon starts and you type a class, then go inside to look for a method, and that sends a keyStroke: to a new TextMorph, who sends a #handleInteraction:fromEvent:. So... old implementation on #handleInteraction:fromEvent: had a first line removed in new implementation: self editor sensor: (KeyboardBuffer new startingEvent: evt). The problem is this: #editor message instances editor attribute if nil. Now... that line is not anymore, introducing a DNU when sending a subsecuent message to editor attribute. I "solved" it bu changing this line: oldEditor := editor. for this other: oldEditor := self editor. (who restores the editor instantiation). What I don't know is: a) is this a bug? b) the bug is there or is a collateral damage? c) my hack really solves the problem? d) is possible to introduce this bugfix into a new version? When I remove a method then realize that this is a mistake, retyping the exact same selector and pressing versions does not show me the previous method. Can somebody confirm and ifTrueCreateABugEntryAndProvideAFixThanks We should fix that :) Stef
