Bill, My apologies for mixing a personal "philosophy discussion" into the Complex header. Â The Complex implementation does not suffer from the performance hit mentioned and as I stated earlier, I have no current desire to make Pharo into Mathematica. Â I would welcome a package which did this, however. -KenD

[Pharo-project] right button still doesn't work on Windows
by Mariano Martinez Peck Aug. 16, 2009

Aug. 16, 2009

With Pharo beta, right button still doesn't work out of the box in Windows. Instead, you have to use the wheel button. To fix it, you must evaluate: InputEventSensor installMouseDecodeTable I saw that in: http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=838 The thing is...where can I put that code so that new images work out of the box? Best, Mariano

[Pharo-project] [update] 10414
by Adrian Lienhard Aug. 16, 2009

Aug. 16, 2009

update #10414 ----------------- 310+311: Reorganize unit tests in a more modular way such that they can be unloaded Now all unit tests are in the packages "Tests", "CollectionsTests", "KernelTests", "MorphicTests", etc. The key point of this reorganization is to make these packages really modular, i.e., they can be unloaded without leaving obsolete classes behind. I also made sure that SUnit with its GUI is unloadable. If you execute in a Pharo-core image: ScriptLoader new cleanUpForProduction; cleanUpForRelease you get an image without tests and SUnit that is 8.0 MB on disk. gor Stasenko <siguctua(a)gmail.com> > Let me restate where we started from. We started from point: > Array new: 0.2i Again, how is this different in pattern from dealing with  Array new: 1/2  Array new: -17  ... ?? -KenD PS:  Complex real: (0.5 + 0i) imaginary: (0 + 0i) Complex can only have instances of Number as components.  The lack of checks is an error.

[Pharo-project] Class browser with changing title.
by Javier Pimás Aug. 16, 2009

Aug. 16, 2009

Thanks everybody for the answers of last post. Finally I used the technique Mariano recommended because it was just what I wanted. Here I'm proposing a really small change to the class browser so that whenever a class or method is selected it's title is changed accordingly. The title produced is such that you can distinguish the browsers when looking at the taskbar (very usefull when you have many browsers opened). In case you like it, it would be nice to have it included in main pharo. -- Javier Pimás Ciudad de Buenos Aires

[Pharo-project] Beta: browser missing splitters?
by Schwab,Wilhelm K Aug. 16, 2009

Aug. 16, 2009

I wanted to take a look at Seaside 2.9's WADevelopment class, specifically how it automates saving packages. After finding the download system for Seaside (very nice!), I had a great excuse to grab the beta and load 2.9 from a change set. It worked - congrats to all involved. One thing that stands out to me is that the panes in the browser appear to lack splitters, so one is stuck with their relative sizes :( As a secondary item, when trying to click-drag where a splitter might be, it picks up the entire browser; IMHO, it should ignore the input. Better still, it should have splitters. Please view all of this as a success. I loaded a beta web framework into a beta Smalltalk system, and that's worst that happened! In fairness, I have not tried to use Seaside 2.9, but for now, I just want to organize the saving of my packages to go from my current image into the beta. Bill

HELP REQUEST I am working an old, very slow machine and must be missing something. I have browsed senders of #sqrt and run the full test suite with sqrt either answering a complex or giving an error on negative arguments and have not seen a difference. Can someone please send me a/some non-trivial examples of where returning complex results for negative arguments breaks something. Thanks a bunch, -KenD
