[Pharo-project] assert:includes
by Daniel P Zepeda Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

Greetings, I've run across this in my own tests that ran fine in Squeak, but failed in Pharo. I thought it was just me being a dummy, but when I imported SandstoneDb and ran the tests, the exact same thing happens. It is a simple fix, but being fairly new at this, I'd like to know why this is, and if I should have to do this or not. So, for easy reference, I loaded the latest SandstoneDb (rjl.117) into my image (pharo1.0beta-10401web09.07.5) and ran the tests, several of which failed with a doesNotUnderstand: #assert:includes: Here is the test: testCollectionSerialization kid save. mom children: (OrderedCollection with: kid). mom save. self flushAndReload . self assert: mom refreshed children includes: kid refreshed if I simply put parens around the argument to assert: like this: assert: (mom refreshed children includes: kid refreshed) it passes. In all cases of failing tests with SandstoneDb, that is the case. Any insight here? Thanks! DZ

[Pharo-project] Seaside Testing in Seaside one click image
by stan shepherd Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

Hi David, I ran up your most recent Seaside Testing in the one click experience. It works fine, but one of the tests failed, because WAAllTests has been changed. The attached version passes all tests green. Let me know if it requires explanation. Cheers, Stan

[Pharo-project] question on browser buttons
by Michael Roberts Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

folks, just wondering what people think about the big 'blue' class browser buttons. Pharo is looking really nice, but i tend to prefer somewhat smaller, plainer buttons. e.g on the test runner, or the preference browser. the browser ones are twice as high! they just seem to stick out a bit. is it easy to switch off these blue buttons, or make all buttons consistent? thanks, Mike

[Pharo-project] [ANN] SqueakDBX, Glorp and GlorpDBX loads easily in Pharo
by Mariano Martinez Peck Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

Hi folks: Since latest Pharo version 10418 SqueakDBX, Glorp and GlorpDBX loads easily in Pharo. The Cryptography package is not need any more as MD5 was Incorporated in Pharo. You must have Installer installed in your image. If you use a Pharo it should be already installed, however in a core image, you should install it. The easier way is to just evaluate: ScriptLoader new installingInstaller. So, this is the summary to load this packages in Pharo: SqueakDBX: The loader will load not only SqueakDBX but also FFI. Installer ss project: 'SqueakDBX'; install: 'SqueakDBXPharoLoader'. And then evaluate: SqueakDBXPharoLoader loadSqueakDBX Glorp: This will apply the path to support underscore in selectors, load Glorp, the GlorpPharoAdaptor and the native PostgreSQL driver. Installer ss project: 'Glorp'; install: 'GlorpPharoLoader'. And then evaluate: GlorpPharoLoader loadGlorpWithNativePostgreSQLDriver GlorpDBX: This will apply the path to support underscore in selectors, load Glorp and the GlorpPharoAdaptor. Then it will apply the path to Glorp to support different database drivers (our refactor) and will load the SqueakDBX Glorp Driver and also will load SqueakDBX and FFI. You don't nee to explicitly download SqueakDBX in this case. Installer ss project: 'SqueakDBX'; install: 'SqueakDBXPharoLoader'. And then evaluate: SqueakDBXPharoLoader loadGlorpDBX Best, Mariano

[Pharo-project] Fonts
by Alexandre Bergel Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

Dear List, In a core 10401, I copied the Font folder next to the image. When I open the font chooser, one 'Accuny' is listed. Apparently, the font folder is not scanned. Is there a way to enforce this? Few release earlier, the following expression worked as expected: (LogicalFont familyName: 'Accuny' pointSize: 10) widthOfString: 'abc' => 20 In a 10401, an exception is raised: DNU ByteString>>between:and: The error stems from: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= FreeTypeFontProvider>>fontInfoFor: aLogicalFont familyName: familyName | family member | ... family := self families at: familyName ifAbsent:[]. ... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= familyName is expected to be a string apparently, but it is used as an integer. Is this a bug, or the protocol recently changed? [Pharo-project] [ANN] SqueakDBX, Glorp and GlorpDBX loads easily in Pharo
by Torsten Bergmann Aug. 19, 2009

Aug. 19, 2009

Hi Mariano, thanks. I appreciate that someone is looking into RDMBs interfacing and OR-Mapping, although I had'nt yet time to play with all your recent work. Three questions: Whats the state of SqueakDBX (supported DB's, ...) Is PostgreSQL still required for Glorp? What if I want to use Glorp with say SQLite? Any comments on Glorp vs. SqueakSave? Thanks Torsten -- Neu: GMX Doppel-FLAT mit Internet-Flatrate + Telefon-Flatrate für nur 19,99 Euro/mtl.!* http://portal.gmx.net/de/go/dsl02

What are the differences? It looks like most things are just using ToolBuilder right now - correct?
