[Pharo-project] Fwd: [Vm-dev] Running Alien on Windows

I added Alien functions to VMMaker on SqueakSource: Name: VMMaker-dtl.170 Author: dtl Time: 25 April 2010, 3:21:08.401 pm Ancestors: VMMaker-dtl.169 VMMaker 4.1.0 Include support for Alien FFI in the interpreter. This adds the contents of package Alien-VMMaker-Support from the Alien project on SqueakSource. The Alien plugin has not been included, and continues to be maintained in package Alien-VMMaker-Plugins on SqS/Alien. These additions are copyright and licensed as follows (reference SqS/Alien): Copyright 2008 Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the ''License''); you may not use this file except in compliance with the License. You may obtain a copy of the License at http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 Aug 27th, 2009 I also updated platforms/Cross/vm/sqVirtualMachine.[ch] with the Alien functions. This bumps the VM_PROXY_MINOR version to 8, and requires that VMs be generated with VMMaker-dtl.170 (or that you load the equivalent from the the Alien project on SqueakSource). I updated the configuration map so that "VMMaker updateFromServer" will now pull in the Alien plugin. A similar update will be needed for ConfigurationOfVMMaker for Pharo. Note that this adds Apache licensed code to VMMaker. If there are any concerns about this, please speak up. Dave

[Pharo-project] Serialization of font object
by nullPointer April 25, 2010

April 25, 2010

Regards I see in Pharo a few ways for create a font, StrikeFont, LogicalFont... I need generate dinamically code in Smalltalk for build UIs, and my problem now is when I have serialize the font of a widget. Which could be the best way for do that? In other objects like arrays, points, associations is possible get that calling #printString method. Exists some equivalence for that in fonts, or is needed implement that mechanism of zero? Thanks for answers -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Serialization-of-font-object-tp2062241p2062241.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[Pharo-project] Fwd: Easy SqueakVM build

If some people are interested ... Cheers, Laurent Laffont ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: laurent laffont <laurent.laffont(a)gmail.com> Date: Tue, Apr 20, 2010 at 10:16 PM Subject: Easy SqueakVM build To: Squeak Virtual Machine Development Discussion < vm-dev(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org> Hi, I've written a script to build the squeak vm from scratch on Linux in one command. It's here http://github.com/lolgzs/easy_squeakvm To build the VM, just get the the script and ./easy_squeakvm.sh This will - checkout squeakvm sources from svn repository - download PharoCore image - load VMMaker into PharoCore - generate the interpreter - build the VM - put binaries in out/squeakvm, ready to use I was tired of typing the same commands over and over :) Cheers, Laurent Laffont

[Pharo-project] #findString:startingAt:caseSensitive: broken
by Lukas Renggli April 25, 2010

April 25, 2010

The method #findString:startingAt:caseSensitive: seems to be quite broken. This is sort of a critical bug, because the widely used #includesSubstring:caseSensitive: (in Pier and Seaside) depends on it. http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=2353 First, the method #findString:startingAt:caseSensitive: has all kinds of strange comments and warning from a unfinished implementation. Furthermore -- and this is the bug I am encountering -- it replaces the string to be searched with an empty WideString if either the search or the searched string are WideString instances. Thus in the case any of the participating strings is a WideString the code never finds a match. WideString new findSubstring: key in: self startingAt: start matchTable: CaseInsensitiveOrder In addition, when used in combination with #includesSubstring:caseSensitive: the code raises a "subscript is out of bounds" exception, because the start index points to an different string than the empty one the search is actually performed on. [Pharo-project] saving headless image on Mac
by Tudor Girba April 25, 2010

April 25, 2010

Hi, I am trying to integrate a Pharo image into a continuous integration system through the command line. For that I need to spawn the image, do something, save and quit. The problem is that on Mac (using 4.2.2beta1U), when I open the resulting image I get a very tiny window instead of the original size. The command below reveals the problem (save-and-quite-image.st is attached): /Applications/Squeak4.2.2beta1U/Squeak\ 4.2.2beta1U.app/Contents/MacOS/ Squeak\ VM\ Opt -headless Pharo-1.0.image THE_PATH/save-and-quit- image.st Could anyone advise me how to proceed to get around this problem? Cheers, Doru -- www.tudorgirba.com "Every thing has its own flow."

[Pharo-project] Expectation for readFrom:... getting bored to fix bugs.

Hi we started with the guys here to look at the tests that fail in 1.1. We started to fix some of them. Now I would like to have a roadmap for freezing 1.1 - Green tests. - No Preferences. - What are the key other things that we want to get done in 1.1? Stef

[Pharo-project] FEATURE: User chooses preferred location for MC directory repositories

I changed the following method: MCDirectoryRepository class>>morphicConfigure ^ (UIManager default chooseDirectoryFrom: (FileDirectory on: '/path/to/my/Repositories')) ifNotNil: [:directory | self new directory: directory] How should I store the default repository directory?
