[Pharo-project] ConfigurationOfPharo and OmniBrowser
by Alexandre Bergel May 3, 2010

May 3, 2010

Hi! I am now trying to make ConfigurationOfPharo load the last version of OmniBrowser. If I do in a fresh core: ConfigurationOfPharo project lastVersion load Then OmniBrowser-lr.458 and OB-Morphic-lr.112 are loaded. The loading blocks on the deprecated warning (yes, the registration in the World menu). In ConfigurationOfPharo>>version11: I have spec project: 'PharoNonCorePackages' with: '1.1.0'; project: 'NewInspector' with: '1.1'; project: 'Shout' with: '1.0'; project: 'Shout Tests' with: '1.0'; project: 'OCompletion' with: '1.1'; project: 'OCompletion Tests' with: '1.1'; project: 'OB Dev' with: '1.1.3'; project: 'OB Dev Tests' with: '1.1.3'; ... I therefore assume that the version 1.1.3 of OmniBrowser is loaded. 1.1.3 is indeed the last version specified in ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser: ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser project lastVersion => ~1.1.3 [ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser] But I evaluate: ConfigurationOfOmniBrowser project lastVersion load Then the version OB-Morphic-lr.116, OB-Standard-lr.463 and OmniBrowser- lr.469 are loaded. I find it is very hard to keep track of what is actually loaded. I haven't closely followed the evolution of Metacello, but there is not a way to say: spec project: 'OB Dev' with: 'lastestVersion' Or Something? [Pharo-project] [Rome] Questions
by Stéphane Ducasse May 3, 2010

May 3, 2010

Hi mike and bert With cyrille we have a bunch of question about rome. Here is a list of affirmations/questions that we would like to get some answers: - RomePluginCanvas is the class to call the Cairo primitives. - What is RomeReferenceCanvas? Is it an abstract class? This is strange because RomeReferenceCanvas refers to its subclass Is this class that should be subclassed to create an SVG Canvas? or it is too dedicated to the romepluging - We imagine that RomePlug - Is there a romeCanvas that delegates to the current Canvas - What is a RomePluginTargetFile? We see two scenarios Sc1 Current clients used the current canvas Now we could have a newCanvas that wrap romeCanvas with the same API as currentCanvas => clients do not have to be changed but the system benefit from cairo or other romecanvas. - Was this integration done in the RomeTweakCanvas which wraps a RomeCanvas? Sc2 Can/Could Rome be used in place of the actual canvas (modulo client changes)? May be the actual Canvas should be offered as a subclass of RomeCanvas. Was it the idea? Could Rome be pushed in the core so that the current canvas can be a subclass of Rome? here current clients have to be fixed and currentCanvasAsRome is a subclass of RomeCanvas or CurrentCanvasAsRome wraps the currentCanvas to offer a rome interface on top of the current canvas API Stef

[Pharo-project] Help System
by Alexandre Bergel May 3, 2010

May 3, 2010

Hi! Nice to see the Help Browser. But it got loaded when I updated a core 1.1. Is this help system really part of the Core? The browser also provides a nice navigation pane. I suspect a duplication of effort between Glamour and HelpBrowser. Why HelpBrowser isn't based on Glamour? Just wondering. Cheers, Alexandre -- _,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;: Alexandre Bergel http://www.bergel.eu ^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;.

[Pharo-project] HelpSystem now integrated
by Torsten Bergmann May 2, 2010

May 2, 2010

Hey, nice to see that HelpSystem was accepted and is now included in both: Squeak trunk image and Pharo core image. I adapted the class "HelpBrowser" in both images so that it in Pharo the Squeak specific code is removed and in Squeak the Pharo specific code is removed. This was necessary in the past due to the morphic vs. polymorph UI differences and is obsolete now. Just update your image. However - any other part is fully compatible and I hope we can share as much documentation as possible! Thanks T. -- GRATIS für alle GMX-Mitglieder: Die maxdome Movie-FLAT!
