[Pharo-project] Styler?
by stephane ducasse May 22, 2010

May 22, 2010

Hi guys what do we do with shout? Squeak introduced it directly in the system. Now I was thinking that what could be a solution is to have a default API/null pattern class that could be in the core and that when Shout gets loaded the shout class is used instead. Now we could add Shout to the TextEditor package but I would like to understand how we can do it without. And also it is interesting to see if one day we will need selector namespace or something like that to deal well with extensions. Stef in PharoCore-1.1 11367 Fails as CodeMorph#stylerClass is not initialized. And no *Styler* class exists on PharoCore.... To make test passes on Pharo I've written CodeMorph#defaultStylerClass ^ SHTextStylerST80 CodeMorph#stylerClass ^ stylerClass ifNil: [stylerClass := self defaultStylerClass]. the solution proposed by laurent only works when shout is loaded and this is not always the case.

Hi, I made a very basic ConfigurationOfGLMorphic that manages it's dependency on FFI. Where should I upload this configuration now? Regards, Javier. -- Javier Pimás Ciudad de Buenos Aires

Hi folks. I saw this method in Squeak and seems interesting to include in Pharo too. What do you think ? Hi I'm trying to follow the event raised when adding a new class/package.... and this is a bit obscure. If I remember there is a tool to get a better understanding of the events raised by the system. Does anybody as a pointer? Stef

[Pharo-project] [BetaTesting] [ANN] Pharo-1.1-11367-Beta1dev10.05.1

So..for next release I will >add a project reference from ConfigurationOfPharo to >ConfigurationOfHelpSystem No, please just add the package I've mentioned since the ConfigurationOfHelpSystem was before the integration into Squeak/Pharo and would load old code. Meanwhile we had adaptions (we dont have the Squeak support code in Pharo for instance and vice versa). Maybe we should remove ConfigurationOfHelpSystem since it now adds more confusion. >It is not clear for me where Help packages should be hosted. For >example, ScriptManager host its own Help package in its own repository. >But Metacello is in the HelpSystem repository. The book for Metacello was just a demo - typically I would expect them to be in the same repo as the code. I dont want a "docu only" repo - if it is close to the code it will be easier to know and maintain it. Thx T. -- GRATIS für alle GMX-Mitglieder: Die maxdome Movie-FLAT! It does so by reading the number after the "&#" or "&x" prefix and then sending #value: to the class Unicode with that as the argument. If you evaluate the following code in a workspace with cmd-p: "(Unicode value: 8230) codePoint", you will see that the resulting code point is not what you would expect. For me it was "1069555750". The same behavior results when creating a Unicode character with #charFromUnicode:. Unless Unicode>>value: and Unicode>>charFromUnicode: are being used incorrectly, I am not sure that this is a bug, or least a bug in XML-Support. (I am working on adding full DTD support with validation and refactoring and re-engineering the parser at the moment, which is why minor releases have slowed to a trickle. I will take a closer look at how character encoding is handled in the process.)

[Pharo-project] Excluding an autogenerated methods from MC package. How?
by Igor Stasenko May 21, 2010

May 21, 2010

Hello all, say, i have some methods having automatically generated sources, and i want them to be not included into a package, since they are generated/refreshed anyways once package loaded. Is there a way to tell MC 1. to exclude such methods, when writing a package 2. to ignore any changes to these methods and don't mark a package as dirty ? -- Best regards, Igor Stasenko AKA sig.

binary messages are not frequently called infix ones in our parlance so isBinary seems better. Symbol>>isBinary "Answer whether the receiver is a binary message selector." ^ self precedence == 2 Stef
