[Pharo-project] [update 1.2] #12076
by Stéphane Ducasse Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

12076 ----- - Issue 2347: Migrating some OS queries from SmalltalkImage to OSPlatform. This changes is really nice since it used the existing Platform classes for that they should. Now do you use Smalltalk os, Smalltalk platform but OSPlatform os OSPlatform platform This way OSPlatform is used for what it should. It would be nice if Squeak would follow this change, else we will add a compatibility package. Thanks Simon Denier. I like these changes that apply OOP thinking to the system. Distribution of responsibilities. Stef

[Pharo-project] NewTextMorphEnterAndEscape bug and other refactorings
by Fernando olivero Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Name: SLICE-Issue-2749-NewTextMorphEnterAndEscape-FernandoOlivero.1 Author: FernandoOlivero Time: 4 August 2010, 11:23:18 am UUID: 4558cda9-d2f7-4839-9c9c-bf8438c9b28f Ancestors: Dependencies: Morphic-FernandoOlivero.673, System-Text-FernandoOlivero.25 . Added edited announcements, so we can create morphs that react to every user input. 2. Removed some "morphic" methods from the TextEditor ( #offerMenuFromEsc:, now escape is handled by sending the editor's morphs #escapePressed ). 3. Fixed the bug 4 .Simplified KeyStroke: methods, so that all the keyboard bindings logic remains in the Editors ( to easily implement customized keyboard bindings, now hardcoded in the Editors classes )

Hi guys I'm working on merging the changes 1298 about the guess of default end of line. And I would like to know on mac os x (compared to Os9) what is the default character of end of line. I thought it was CR since the previous code was ((OSPlatform osVersion) beginsWith: 'darwin') ifTrue: [^ self defaultToCR] ifFalse: [^ self defaultToLF]] but carlo wrote Smalltalk isMacOS9 ifTrue: [^ self defaultToCR] ifFalse: [^ self defaultToLF]]. and I have some doubts because 'darwin' should be mac os x Stef

[Pharo-project] Mac like editing?
by Max Leske Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi everyone. I have no idea what the status is on the editor in pharo and if there are any plans to do something to / with it. If there's some resource, could you point me to it? In the meantime I thought I'd share my impressions with you; doesn't hurt at least. Since I started developing in Pharo I've struggled with the editor, in particular with the fact that I need to use the mouse a lot to position the cursor which, as all of you know, makes development quite a bit slower. Before I came to Pharo I used to develop in Eclipse and Eclipse supports all shortcuts used inside OS X (and if not you can change the shortcut settings). My favorite shortcuts: cmd + -> : go to end of line cmd + <- : go to beginning of line alt + -> : go to end of the current word alt + -> : go to beginning of current word alt + arrow up : switch the line above with the current line (current line has line number -1, line above has line number +1) alt + arrow down : switch the line below with the current line cmd + l : delete line (I know this shortcut is used to cancel changes at the moment. Still, I haven't found a shortcut yet that deletes a single line) I'd LOVE to see this in Pharo, or at least be able to configure the shortcuts myself. I think, being able to change the shortcuts is important anyway because each developer has an own style. I'd try to come up with a solution myself but I just don't have the time at the moment. Thanks for listening to my yapping :) Max

[Pharo-project] update to OCompletion
by Romain Robbes Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi All, I just committed: http://squeaksource.com/OCompletion/Ocompletion-RomainRobbes.64.mcz the changes are: -incorporated Lukas' smart characters algorithm (thanks Lukas!) -removed enter to insert a completion; only tab works now. -delayed the switch to eCompletion's completion algorithm, hence the slowdown when using the down arrow happens only after the third time pressing it (after OCompletion's all of OCompletion's menu items). Cheers, Romain -- Romain Robbes http://romain.robb.es rrobbes(a)dcc.uchile.cl
