[Pharo-project] Trait missing method isMetacelloConfig in Pharo 1.1
by Jochen Riekhof Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi... just noticed that I get a walkback after creating a Trait and then opening the Context-Menu on the browser's classes list pane. It complains MessageNotUnderstood: Trait>>isMetacelloConfig Adding the missing method to Trait solves the issue. Probably it is just missing from {ob-metacello} package? Ciao ...Jochen

[Pharo-project] Telling the OS that the VM wants focus
by Max Leske Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi folks The project I'm currently working on requires that I have to wait frequently for computations / operations to complete. To control the status I used progress bars wherever possible. Now, since the operations might take several minutes I like to sometimes switch to another Desktop, maybe read an e-mail or an article. I'd find it rather useful if the OS would notify me that the VM needs my attention as soon as the operations have completed or if there was an error during execution, so that I don't have to go and check every 30 seconds. Is there an existing way to do this? If not, I'd like to propose this as a feature for a future release (although I don't have an inkling how one would accomplish this...). Cheers, Max

[Pharo-project] Gofer support for Universes
by Miguel Enrique Cobá MartÃnez Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Stéphane, Lukas, I have uploaded Gofer-Core-MiguelCoba.124 Gofer-Tests-MiguelCoba.117 to PharoInbox repository on squeaksource. They are based on the versions of gofer in Pharo 1.0 Gofer-Core-MarkusDenker.117 Gofer-Tests-MarkusDenker.116 and add universes support to gofer. What do you think, are they worth integrating to mainstream gofer? Does this functionality belongs to Gofer? I know of GoferProjectLoader, but it isn't part of PharoCore, so that discards it right now. What is the procedure to merge it to trunk gofer, if so decided, so that a Gofer upgrade in any Pharo image gets this new version? Cheers -- Miguel Cobá http://miguel.leugim.com.mx

[Pharo-project] Pharo 1.1 host menu os x
by Michael Roberts Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

I gave the latest release a spin and it seams quit doesn't work (again). old reference -> http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=1068 can someone confirm? if so do we want a new issue or reopen the old one? Also the host menu is not consistent with the world menu. for example the tools menu is different. Script manager is in one but not the other. The help browser text references it which is why i noticed. I haven't looked at the implementation. is there a way they are supposed to be kept in sync? cheers, Mike

[Pharo-project] Shrink image
by nullPointer Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi I start implementing a little app for shrink image for deploy purposes. I want know if exists a standard way for execute some tasks: 1- Delete World menu, and context menu when a morph is clicked with Control pressed. In fact, Delete ALL default context menus. 2- Remove halos ( changing Preferences, true? ) 3- Remove development mechanism ( for example, the behavior of text editor widgets when I input a class name and pressing Control B appears the class in Explorer ) 4- Change message when the close window is pressed and appears the message 'Quit Pharo without save?' 5- Override the default behavior of debugger. Perhaps show a simple message with the error. I know search some that things, but I want know if exists the BEST way. All conseils for that app will be welcomed. Hi I have worked on the integration of the new package implementation and its synchronisation with MC/PackageInfo. Now I have the following problem: Scenario 1: the user have created a package Foo which contains several classes, some like FooObject in the category Foo-Core, others in category Foo-Others. Now if he creates a package Foo-Core, Foo-Core should contain the classes having Foo-Core as category. I have a problem with PackageInfo semantics since here packages Foo and Foo-Core could contain FooObject. Scenario 2: the user have created a class in the category Foo-Core, and after created a package only named Foo. The classes in category Foo-Core should be added to Foo. But some other packages and categories starting with Foo may exist. Now in the new implementation, classes cannot be two packages at the same time. So I will be forced to implement a checker making sure that there is no such situation and also that we should remove first the Foo package and then create two package Foo-Core and Foo-Others. What do you think? May be such a checker should be hooked into MC right now so we detect anyway such bad situations. For the moment I'm fighting within events and announcements to make sure that I could potentially keep the new implementation of Package and PackageOrganizer in sync with PackageInfo but this is not that simple. [Pharo-project] Issue 2750: Loading an image segment can introduce a class named AnObsoleteFake37SomeName
by Adrian Lienhard Aug. 4, 2010

Aug. 4, 2010

Hi, I filed the following issue (includes a fix) regarding a bug in image segments (actually the bug is related to smart ref streams): http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=2750 If somebody could take a look to check whether my change makes sense and does not introduce an unintended side effect, that would be great! Thanks, Adrian ___________________ http://www.adrian-lienhard.ch/
