[Pharo-project] Problem with Date today, different in pharo 1.0 and 1.1

Hi folks. In Pharo 1.0 I evaluate "Date today start" i get -> 2010-08-13T00:00:00+02:00 and in Pharo 1.1 "Date today start -> 2010-08-13T00:00:00+00:00 so.... in 1.0 I have at the end a +02:00 and in Pharo 1.1 I have +00:00 which one is correct? are we aware of this change? does someone know the issue number of this? thanks mariano

[Pharo-project] Dynamic linking - again

Hello all, Browser environments and associated scoped browsers have given me a reasonable tool to review some code I hope to release soon. It contains some cruft that I am moving to reconsider or shred at some time in the future, and a few things that would be useful if only they worked. A good example of the latter is my misadventures with dynamic linking. Trying to get libdl.so to load has been an exercise in frustration. I understand some of the reasoning behind naming and searching for libraries as it is now done. While I ordinarily quickly and loudly criticize Squeak for silent failures (they seldom do anyone any favors; I prefer my bad news in real time), loading a library might not be the best time to raise an error as it might hobble startup. However, there should be a way to tell why something didn't load on startup, or at least to trace why it won't load "now." So far, I don't see that. I have gotten just far enough away from my most recent hassles with this to forget where I built the hacked vm. It might be sitting on my laptop. I'm going to shelve it for now, but the hack I have in place is pretty sad, and there is a LOT of room to grow for the VM to tell the user what it is doing when (failing at) loading modules. Bill

Hi everyone, I'm trying to add one column in the navigationPanel (I'll extend OBSystemBrowser, just for the examples lets say OBMySystemBrowser) The current behaviour is (from left to right) [image: 4columns.png] || Column A || Column B || Column C || Column D || || Categories in Smalltalk globals || Classes in the selected category || Method categories of the selected class || Methods in the selected method category || I want to add a column in the left (the column that has Trulala1) , *and maintain the behaviour of the columns 2 to 5 * * * *|| Column 1 || Column 2 || Column 3 || Column 4 || Column 5 ||* || Environments in Smalltalk || Column A (Categories in the selected environment) || Column B || Column C || Column D || [image: 5columns.png] The question is, *where I define the order and the behaviour of the columns? * ** I think I need to create a new node in *OBMySystemBrowser >> defaultRootNode * and in *OBMySystemBrowser >> defaultMetaNode*. But in some point an OBMetagraphBuilder set up the root node and I'm lost there because the only "constructor" that has is #on:class:comment:metaclass:. How would I, from one image, tell another image to execute something? I searched Google and the Squeak and Pharo lists for: - "[Pharo|Squeak] inter-image communication" - "[Pharo|Squeak] script" The results included various references to old projects that I never hear mentioned now, and instructions on how to run code (via a .st as an argument to the vm command line) when launching an image.
