Dec. 13, 2010

Some proposed to used pragmas like in settings since they work well for setting and we can also browse help with implementors. [Pharo-project] Issue 3406 in pharo: Standard images from downloads page do not implement Object #clone
by pharo＠googlecode.com Dec. 13, 2010

Dec. 13, 2010

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 3406 by musicartscience: Standard images from downloads page do not implement Object #clone http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=3406 Hi, I downloaded the one-click install and the Windows installer of 1.1 image and when I ran the "AbstractSound bachFugue play" example, I found that Object did not understand #clone which was fired from PluckedSound. I fixed the problem by implementing #clone on Object with the following code: clone <primitive: 148> self primitiveFailed I think you need to check the default image and include this implementation of #clone for Object, it fixed the problem for me, but I had to download two images, both which didn't have it and were marked as "stable". Cheers!

[Pharo-project] Loading *some of* a MC snapshot into the image
by Damien Pollet Dec. 13, 2010

Dec. 13, 2010

I have a snapshot compiled against an old version of PetitParser. Unfortunately one of my classes now has a conflicting inst var with the most recent PetitParser, so my code does not load, MC explodes instead of giving me a chance to fix the problem on the fly. Of course, there are quite a few changes I'd like to rescue in that snapshot. Please don't tell me I have to copy-paste them all⦠-- Damien Pollet type less, do more [ | ] http://people.untyped.org/damien.pollet

[Pharo-project] SmaCC
by Ross Boylan Dec. 12, 2010

Dec. 12, 2010

I'm using the Pharo 1.0 image and have loaded the configuration for SmaCC. It doesn't seem to come with any instruction or examples about how to use it, and I seem to have only the SmaCC-Runtime package group. I think I need SmaCCDev, but can't figure out how to load it. I opened up the monticello browser, but when I try to add a repository it asks me for an email address. I would appreciate help on any or all of figuring out how to use SmaCC, loading SmaCCDev (or any other packages) and info about package management in Pharo. Thanks. Ross Boylan

[Pharo-project] Issue 3405 in pharo: Issue 1042 should be re-opened. Pharo needs a user-accessible list of shortcut keys
by pharo＠googlecode.com Dec. 12, 2010

Dec. 12, 2010

Status: New Owner: ---- New issue 3405 by tony.fleig: Issue 1042 should be re-opened. Pharo needs a user-accessible list of shortcut keys http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=3405 Issue 1042 was apparently closed when the Help menu item was added. There is indeed a Help item in the World menu, but it does not lead to anywhere that shortcut keys are listed. The original issue, i.e. that the list of shortcut keys is nowhere available has not been addressed. I think this issue should be re-opened. I agree wholeheartedly that this list is of immense value to newcomers to the Pharo and should be available and easy to find.

[Pharo-project] Ideas for HelpSystem
by Damien Pollet Dec. 12, 2010

Dec. 12, 2010

Hi all, The Ruby guys have a really nifty tool for code documentation (mainly per-class, per-method etc, but README files are used as well and can serve for tutorials). It's called Yard: http://yardoc.org/ Typically it's used to generate documentation, like javadoc, but it can run as a web server with all the documentation of installed Ruby packages (see http://www.rubyinside.com/the-3-step-guide-to-slick-local-documentation-for… ) -- Damien Pollet type less, do more [ | ] http://people.untyped.org/damien.pollet

[Pharo-project] NewTextMorph authoringPrototype
by Tudor Girba Dec. 12, 2010

Dec. 12, 2010

Hi, I was looking for examples of how to use NewTextMorph, and I tried: NewTextMorph authoringPrototype However, it raises errors which seem to be related to an initialization problem. Am I doing something wrong, or is it simply a bug? Cheers, Doru -- www.tudorgirba.com "Not knowing how to do something is not an argument for how it cannot be done."
