[Pharo-project] GemSource downtime tonight 9pm PST to 11pm PST
by Dale Henrichs March 4, 2011

March 4, 2011

The server for http://seaside.gemstone.com/ss is being moved to the VMWare corporate data center tonight and the old site will be shut down at 9pm. We expect it to take a couple of hours for the new DNS to propagate so the new site will be available at 11pm. Aaron will be monitoring the gemstone beta list at: http://seaside.gemstone.com/mailman/listinfo/beta Feel free to post any questions or problems to that list and Aaron will respond. Folks using Metacello, shouldn't notice a problem because an alternate Metacello repository is maintained at: http://www.squeaksource.com/metacello.html and the Metacello loader should automatically switch to the repository if GemSource isn't available. Hello guys, I've done a very simple Pharo Messenger that you can test here: Gofer new squeaksource: 'PharoInstantMessenge'; package: 'PIM'; load For launching the server: ChatServerLauncher launch: aPortNumber. For launching the client: WindowsManager default openInWorld. I will see if I can found a server to put the image :) Thanks in advance for your feedbacks, Ben

An ipad you take with you when you don't want to take a computer with you. E.g. for holidays, travels... And it has 10 hour practical batteries. Very very nice on a flight, for reading, playing games, even doing some email. Marcus -- Marcus Denker -- http://www.marcusdenker.de INRIA Lille -- Nord Europe. Team RMoD.

[Pharo-project] About RPackage
by Stéphane Ducasse March 3, 2011

March 3, 2011

Hi cyrille/doru and others. I do not understand why RPackage organizer packages contains System? In fact all the categories are mapped to packages and I wonder why. I imagine that this is to avoid to have mostSpecific* logic of packageInfo, but it means that in such a case we should merge categories to get back the package we have right now else we will end up with loading/saving problems. Hi Guys, I am conscious this email is a bit out of topic. But you may have a valuable experience to share I am just wondering whether some of you tried to: - do some latexing on iPad - run Pharo on it These are the two basic things that I constantly do with my laptop (including web browsing and mails). Can I throw my laptop for an ipad? Cheers, Alexandre -- _,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;: Alexandre Bergel http://www.bergel.eu ^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;._,.;:~^~:;.
