[Pharo-project] Does FFI support WideStrings?
by Mariano Martinez Peck March 7, 2011

March 7, 2011

Hi. Someone pointed out here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5212790/unicode-characters-in-a-smalltal… a problem while using WideStrings with FFI. FFI throws a "Could not coerce arguments". Is this because of the usage of WideString? what we should use instead (I know that ByteString works) ? can we fix FFI so that it supports WideStrings? thanks Mariano

[Pharo-project] Fwd: [SqueakDBX] Simple object pool 0.1.1 "released".
by Mariano Martinez Peck March 7, 2011

March 7, 2011

Thanks Panu. This is awesome. We will integrate your info in our website!! :) mariano ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Panu Suominen <panu.j.m.suominen(a)gmail.com> Date: Mon, Mar 7, 2011 at 8:28 AM Subject: [SqueakDBX] Simple object pool 0.1.1 "released". To: The complete and open-source solution to relational database access < squeakdbx(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org> Long time ago I mailed that I have started to build new pooling solution for objects because I could not find existing one with tests. Then I promised to improve documentation. It has taken quite long time but now I have created minimal documentation that should enable people to try my implementation. Currenlty it is nothing spectacular. Project can be found at http://www.squeaksource.com/ObjectPool.html the wiki there should get you started. If one has loaded GlorpDBX one could start using pool with following code to start pooling SqueakDBX connections: Gofer new squeaksource:'ObjectPool'; package:'ConfigurationOfObjectPool'; load. ((Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfObjectPool) project version:'0.1.1') load:#('default' 'dbx'). SqueakDatabaseAccessor DefaultDriver: OPSqueakDBXDriver. Currently OPSqueakDBXDriver does not restrict the amount of active or pooled connections. I will improve that soon. One can load basic pooling implementation without DBX-related stuff by just executing: ((Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfObjectPool) project version:'0.1.1') load. -- Panu _______________________________________________ SqueakDBX mailing list SqueakDBX(a)lists.squeakfoundation.org http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakdbx

[Pharo-project] Assert SystemWindow not visible
by laurent laffont March 7, 2011

March 7, 2011

Hi, I'm currently exploring ways of doing TDD on GUI. (Is there a framework for this ?) How can I know a window has been closed ? #visible always return true. self assert: (SystemWindow new openInWorld delete) visible not. fails. However this works but a bit "heavy": (SystemWindow labelled: 'Zork') openInWorld delete. Smalltalk garbageCollect. self assert: (SystemWindow allSubInstances detect: [:aWindow| aWindow label = 'Zork'] ifNone: [nil]) isNil. [Pharo-project] Issue 3778 in pharo: cleaning cursor: and cursor
by pharo＠googlecode.com March 7, 2011

Status: Fixed Owner: stephane...@gmail.com Labels: Milestone-1.3 New issue 3778 by stephane...@gmail.com: cleaning cursor: and cursor http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=3778 Sensor currentCursor and currentCursor: seems misplaced. -> deprecate currentCursor on sensor and redirect to Cursor I do not understand that: Cursor>>show "Make the hardware's mouse cursor look like the receiver" Sensor currentCursor: self InputEventSensor>>currentCursor: newCursor "The current cursor is maintained in class Cursor." Cursor currentCursor: newCursor. We end up with spaghettis refernces between Cursor and Sensor. Cursor>>showWhile: aBlock "While evaluating the argument, aBlock, make the receiver be the cursor shape." "ar 2/2/2006: Only allow this if active process is ui process" | oldcursor | Processor activeProcess == Project uiProcess ifFalse:[^aBlock value]. oldcursor := Sensor currentCursor. self show. ^aBlock ensure: [oldcursor show] Sensor>>currentCursor "The current cursor is maintained in class Cursor." ^ Cursor currentCursor Attachments: events.2.cs 8.2 KB
